@watersva1 The witches and their barriers were designed by Gekidan Inu Curry who also animated this music video. Charlotte's doll form is based off the main girl and her caterpillar form is based off the other main character.

The song itself is wonderful, but I only get goosebumps when I watch the PV as well. Not the most amazing animation, but beautiful nonetheless and I applaud everyone who had a part to play in this production!
@habelie It's not about the animation... :/ The animation could be done by a fifth grader and no one should care. It's the message behind the animation and within the song that should matter. It's beautiful all around, and the animation goes beautifully with the song period.
@FaixKurochan a more refined aesthetic conveys more to the general people (notice I say 'convey', not express). not many fifth graders are equipped with artistic skills that can do justice to the vision. the message is able to be better conveyed through someone who has a sharper aesthetic eye and greater experience......
@habelie Then why put down the art if you would not have someone even worse do it? Why not just appreciate the message and song put to the animation rather than saying "it's not the best"? I think it's fine - and many people that commented think the same. Again, it's only an animation going /with/ the song, not entirely taking over to convey the message. The song alone is enough to stand alone. The animation is only a small percent compaired to the song, anyway.
@FaixKurochan actually, saying 'not the most amazing'(good, but could be better) but applauding it for what it's able to convey is praise. some animations may be spectacular but lack something. and of course people are going to judge the video since we are watching...a video. people judge, whether they like it or not. and you may think vid < song, but others, as much as we can appreciate the song on it's own, choose to enjoy the vid and song together on equal importance.perception&preference.
I am always in awe of Maaya Sakamoto's voice and how it can sound so intimate and forlorn, and so very emotionally powerful and stirring. It's especially amazing considering that (from what I've read) her English skills aren't even close to being conversationally fluent. Attaining such inflection while crossing a decently large language barrier is applaudable. As for the video... Very lovely :]

Why can't more pop musicians put out music like this? This was actually beautiful and serene, and fantastic. Not some stereotypical trash about a party...
