Not entirely true. The song can be interpreted as either

a) A man who murders several people (the runner, the spy and the leak) in order to hide the fact that he's not as wonderful as he claims to be. So that he could 'stay the tallest man, in your eyes, babe'. Or it can be interpreted as a man shedding parts of his former identity - burying them with literal imagery. Also, note the flower names are all common women's names (Rose, Lily, Jasmine).
