BRS is an original character design by Huke, and an employee at crypton noticed how brs and hatsune sorta looked alike ((though I don't see it, accept the pigtails)) and the company worked on "black rock shooter" for hatsune miku to preform.
If it weren't for that employee, BRS and vocaloid wouldn't have exited together like they some-what do.
