@nuggie9511
Personally I think most things sound just as good down a notch, but 450 sounds like a sick dog.

The pitch of A at J. S. Bach's time was 415 Hz, so almost all performances of Bach's works (which are usually at 440 Hz) are sharp.
prietoanachronism 1 month ago
@prietoanachronism No. There was no pitch standard at the time. Authentic performances stick with 415 Hz since that's a good approximation of what a lot of composers used. Bach however even played his organ 460+ Hertz at a time.

the piano may be sharp-but this is a great performance. The music flows on and on like a stream. This is the way Bach would have wanted it!

@MusikalischesHaus Right!
@MusikalischesHaus You ever got the chance to ask him? But I agree, a great performance.

To keesvangulik 127: it is hard to play like that without the right arm! Anyay, great interpretation!

I would give my right arm to be able to play like that.
@keesvangulik127 It is hard to play like that without your right arm, so please keep it. Anyway, great interpretation!
@frankymountain See Paul Wittgenstein about that.

This is a very accepted performance tempo .. the recording seems to have sharpened the pitch
