The freedom tower isnt right ontop of where the twin towers were. its off to the side a little. A momorial is going on the foundation of the two twin towers.

But things are going back to normal -hell even the Yankees and the Giants suck again! When is this tower supposed to start to rise past street level? Hi, no the tallest building at 2:26 is the new 7 World Trade Center. It was opened on May 23, 2006. It's one of the most beautiful buildings in Manhattan -- it's design angles are such that the colors of the building and its profile seems to change with the weather. Will do. I think a lot of work is going on right now, but it's going into the all-important groundwork so you don't see it. When steel starts to rise it will go up quickly and be something that you can readily see.

From Rich Sheppard: "It is scheduled to be completed by late 2011, early 2012. That may be on schedule. There has been talk of slowing down building the FT in favor of building the 3 other WTC-site towers along Church Street. The thinking is that if you build the smaller buildings first and lease or sell them, it will enhance Freedom Tower's commercial prospects."
