  • @RegurgitatedNews he was a messenger of mirkwood during the hobbit. You can even see the freaking top comments or even check the book itself.

  • @RegurgitatedNews

Don't talk about stuff you don't know about, nutjob. If you had read the Hobbit, you would know he was there. Labo vi Orodruin.

  • @natedawg3654 Im not sure from whre, but i have heard that the intro, or end, or both are similar to that of the LotR movie ( with the book) or liek storytelling from the book and that is how thay managed to get him in, but from waht i have heard ( and hope) he will not come in to the actual plot

  • yeahhh..legolas!!!been waiting for soooo longgg...i've been reading the hobbit and the silmarillion over and over again while waiting for this movie..

no offense but..legolas is not ''that young'' as he looks..so he shud be in any of the Mirkwood's scenes i guess ^^

  • The Silmarillion. It is the history and personalities of J.R.R Tolkiens Middle Earth. He wrote it after the books, from all his notes and imagined history, it was finished off by his son after tolkiens death, Its a hard read, but has all the stuff you would like to know

  • yeah seriouslyy, they cant put legolas in here. they can put his father tho... how is orlando going to be legolas...

  • @greasergirl22hannah His father and his home is in the books. They are in Mirkwood quite a whille getting lost and are in Thurandurils halls, so why wouldn't they run into him in a hallway or at one of the forest gatherings or something? He is definately old enough to have been around. Putting him on a throne in the background while the dwarfs speak with his father wouldn't be weird at all. Tolkien doesn't say he's there, but he actually doesn't say he isn't either.

  • @EmperorofCartoons Legolas was very much alive during the Hobbit considering he is at least 500 years old (2931 according to Peter Jackson, though there is no evidence of that). It makes sense for him to be in Thranduils Halls during these events. I wouldn't worry too much I can only see it being a cameo role, a nice nod to the fans who have read the books.

  • @sharswar Yes there is evidence of his age. Read the Simerlion.

  • @SauronsLeftNut ehm... read the what??

  • @SauronsLeftNut There is evidence, but nothing hard. Nowhere does it state his actual date of birth or exact age so it's all just educated guesses, I was just saying PJ chose 2931 to give him an age instead of leaving question marks. Either way he would be at least 500 years old at the time of the hobbit.

  • @sharswar If I was Orlando, I wouldn't fly all the way down to New Zealand and put on all the prosthetics and makeup just for a CAMEO! I don't care how much they're paying. I'd at least wanna shoot a couple dozen arrows to make up for it :)

  • @Anathar88 This is true, I wouldn't complain about longer screentime myself, he's one of my favourite characters from LotR, but you know what the haters are like. There are plenty of ways he could be slipped into the story and it still make perfect sense, I just hope they slip him into the RIGHT parts. Mirkwood... Fine. Battle of Five Armies... Fine. But hopefully nowhere else.

  • @sharswar There is evidence of that:D If you read all the books written around LOTR by Tolkien then you can count out that age:P

  • @EmperorofCartoons you're an idiot!

  • NOOOOO!

  • @iidan5997 he was... check in the book ... he was a messenger of Mirkwood. i have the books and i see he is ..

  • @morfridor So what chapter is he in? I don't remember him being in there, but I knew he was alive.

  • @iiixySaTnAfLaNiF 'The council of Elrond'

  • @thecatlands When you said, "he was...check in the book..." I thought you meant "The Hobbit". I already knew he was a messenger from the Elf king, from Thranduil. I just didn't remember him being in Bilbo's story. Wonder how they're include Bloom.

  • @morfridor He definitely wasn't a messenger of Mirkwood in the Hobbit. He was a messenger to the council of Elrond in the LOTR because he's King Thranduil's son and a person of rank was needed to go to the council. Even so, he was not actually in The Hobbit. Tolkien didn't develop his character until he began work on the Lord of the Rings. Legolas is never mentioned in The Hobbit. Though because he's an elf, it's not that far fetched to assume he was in Mirkwood at the time of the Hobbit.

  • @eJaynie wow he wasnt king in the lord of the rings gimli calls him an elvish princling PRINCELING theres the key he was in the hobbit in the first edition in the others there is alot cut out so research before you comment

  • @bloco581 Read my comment. I said; "He was a messenger to the council of Elrond in the LOTR because he's King Thranduil's SON...." and therefore a Prince. I never said he was the King. And he is NEVER actually mentioned in the Hobbit, because his charactered did not exist yet. Tolkein hadn't developed him until he wrote the LOTR. There is an annotated version of the Hobbit that mentions Legolas, however it was annotated after Tolkien's death. Jackson wrote him into the Hobbit.

  • @morfridor I have read The Hobbit many times, and Legolas' name was never mentioned in the book. Not even once. He was Thranduil's son, but you learn that in The Lord of the Rings. He was never mentioned in The Hobbit at all. But I am thrilled that he will be in the movie.
