I remember a girl tell me that she kept a little eye drop bottle of ammonia on her instead of pepper spray. The short term effect is the same and it can be squirted upwind easier than an aerosol spray. Plus those bottles are tiny and easily hidden in your hand.
As far as I know, its legal to carry and you can use it to clean your nails etc.

Makes sense to me, a woman has half lung capacity, a quarter of the upper body strength on average as a male does. She can't defend herself with her fists, a gun or a taser would be the only things that wouldn't wind up with her in a hospital, or a casket.

This is Canada. And Canada, along with the countries you've listed above, has a WAY lower average of annual gun-related deaths per capita than the US.

Owning pepper spray in NYC is a misdemeanor under NYS and punishable with jail time. Now I live in Texas, where I can own a gun WITHOUT registering it. Yes, we can pack heat here in Texas, as long as it's concealed. I love Texas!

The laws our politicians implement to restrict firearms and personal-defense devices (like pepperspray and tasers) are not primarily meant to protect the public from those who may use such devices in crime, but to protect the authority of the government (so that they are the only ones with that kind of offensive capability.) Makes sense to me, a woman has half lung capacity, a quarter of the upper body strength on average as a male does. She can't defend herself with her fists, a gun or a taser would be the only things that wouldn't wind up with her in a hospital, or a casket.

It's not just about women. I'm a 50 year old guy who lives by himself. I'm not physically capable of battling a younger and stronger drug-hungry intruder. Total compliance doesn't guarantee my safety or well-being. In the 2-3 minutes it takes police to arrive, I could be dead. And what's frustrating is you can kill someone in Canada and get 5 years! When I lived in Massachusetts you had to have a license to possess pepper spray lawfully. And all my firearms where registered with the state. Now here in Tennessee I can carry open or concealed with a permit and there is no registration here either. I love it!!

Owning pepper spray in NYC is a misdemeanor under NYS and punishable with jail time. Now I live in Texas, where I can own a gun WITHOUT registering it. Texas has no idea what, how many or of what caliber guns I have and they don't care because I'm a law abiding, mentally stable citizen. I applied for my Concealed Handgun License back in April. Yes, we can pack heat here in Texas, as long as it's concealed. I love Texas!

I think the reason Katey is stuck on "woman's right" is because it's NEEDED. Say "everybody's right" and it flies over the head of many women. I was once that dense myself. I was around guns, but no matter what, in my mind they were "for guys," not me. The laws our politicians implement to restrict firearms and personal-defense devices (like pepperspray and tasers) are not primarily meant to protect the public from those who may use such devices in crime, but to protect the authority of the government (so that they are the only ones with that kind of offensive capability.) Because they're out of touch. They don't have to live in bad neighborhoods or suffer poverty. It's all academic to them.
