  • @katebieh nah, it's ok, I just thought it was funny. :)

  • Synonyms? ;)

  • 2 people thought the dislike button was a different name for the like button, so they checked to see if it was the same thing

  • @kagthetank I suppose you are right. Really, thank you. I was just trying to voice an opinion about this song. I will think about that next time, and about where I post it.

  • all i want to do when i'm older is travel, be free, and fall in love. so this is a little depressing, however, i know it's true and this song is beautiful and raw. it's just different names for the same thing.

  • @abigailras The world never slows down.

  • Imagine this.. If John Lennon were still alive.. Him and ben doing a duet, or writing a song together. That would have been magical.

  • Simile!

  • @blinkme478 someone paid attention in english ;D

  • @blinkme478 Oh fuck, I meant synonym

  • I like this band so much and they from Washington state. There is no band in the pass or in the future will be like Beatles no matter how much they try :)

  • I cried like a child the first time I heard this sound.

  • @inaniell1 ikr..somehow I think that Death Cab has magical superhuman power.

No other music has ever affected me so much.

  • put on rainymood in another tab before playing.

    your welcome.

  • @jadegray WOW thanks for introducing me to rainymood!

  • Drive so easy...I feel every cord

  • I don't think it's surprising that real music sounds somewhat like other real music. I mean, go figure.

  • New Supertramp? At least superb / great song!

  • Hutch sent me...

  • It seems a little too repetitive for my taste in its beat, but to each their own. (directed at hutch)

  • The music really reminds me of "Isolation" by John Lennon

  • go fuck yourself Ben

  • I think the song is about religion/the afterlife. Outdated map= Religious text. Different names (different religious views) for the same place (the afterlife). Boundaries of language can be related to the differing religions; all believing in life after life, just have different ideas on the specifics of it.

  • @comchef35 that is very well put..i wouldnt have thought of this song in that way

  • A masterpiece.

Lyrically genius. I love his work.

  • first half of this track is very good. not sure what they were thinking with the second half.

  • @paranoidandroid505 lmao. dont we all

  • song for us to run away to

  • Your name makes me yearn for wafflz. And not just eggo.

  • like this part " The boundaries of language I quietly cursed "

  • thats a synonym ben. a synonym

  • @THCGamers thats extremely literal, it goes deeper than that

  • 2:20 - 4:50 Orgasmic

  • This lyrics are really good.

  • :))

  • Great song

  • These lyrics always sounded vague to me, but I think DCFC is just really good at making all their songs mean something to everyone, no matter who it is.

  • @HallySaysHallo true. so many people have mentioned they think the song too simple; to me it can be so much deeper than what is first perceived by it. it's like dancing around coming out with how you feel, you can be friends with a person and yet your words towards them can have multiple meanings. there are a lot of different words and ways to express 'love.'

  • love at first hear

  • Perfecta......

  • this song has the weirdest effect on me. just makes me reminisce.

  • I've listened to this song about 10+ times today. It really makes me think. :] And I have to agree, it does have a little of that Beatles essence to it.

  • tbf i love them because of who the are not who they sound like...

    Death Cab For Cutie <3

  • The end ruined it but the very beinning was cute

  • great song.

    beautiful lyrics.

  • @xDazzlelightxx it accompanied me in my brightest and darkest of times. classic.

  • Alone on a train, aimless in wonder

and outdated map crumpled in my pocket

    I didn't care where I was going...

    cause they're all different names...for the same....place

  • Everytime I hear this song I hear the crackling in the background and think it sounds like a bonfire. Anyone know why it sounds like that?

  • @hayley1011 I think it's supposed to sound like a record playing with the hisses and pops.

  • @Mordeci819 That or firee

  • this is the first song I listened to after the birth of my first son back in 2005. beautiful memories...

  • I love this band. Especially their ability to repeat a phrase a bunch of times and not have to lose any weight. I don't know how they do that but it's awesome

  • The beginning piano chord sounds just like Fool on a Hill.I thought it was for a second!Definitely Beatles-esque.

  • i didn't care where i was going, all different names for the same place.

  • I <3 this album!!!

  • I agree with gibsonesc

  • favorite death cab song. great instrumental section, arent to many in their songs.

  • Gr8 song, gr8 album

  • I don't know why or what I'm thinking of, but the beginning of this song with the solo piano and Ben's voice remind me so much of something John Lennon would have done. It's definitely something he would have loved. I think Ben is channeling a little John here. Has anyone ever read that Ben (or the rest) is inspired by The Beatles?

  • This does sound a lot like something Lennon would do, but every band these days has a little Beatles in them.

  • @gibsonesc89 thats such bull :)

  • @gibsonesc89 This is not true... Maybe the intentions are there, but that does not mean that they will 'all' be represented or remembered in the same ways....The Beatles will always be remembered, as they were a new beginning of rock - they changed rock bands forever. But not all of the bands today are like that at all... They must have their own style, and that is exactly what DCFC is representing themselves for here. They love playing music. And their words are one of a kind...

  • Yes

  • @jjp009 Well obviously they must've been somewhat inspired by The Beatles - after all, the band-name "Death Cab For Cutie" comes from The Beatles' "Magical Mystery Tour" film!

  • Lanta: Oh really? I did not know that. Was that a line used in the film or something?

  • they're actually named after Bonzo Dog Band song, and that band was friends with the Beatles so that's why they had the song in the movie

  • @pretzelpimp Yes, you are 100% correct about the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band (to use the band's full name)...

However my point was that it's very likely that Ben Gibbard became aware of the aforementioned band's song DUE TO being a fan of the Beatles. Correct me if I'm wrong.

  • @jjp009 i kinda get that feeling sumtimes...

  • @jjp009 Well, the name Death Cab for Cutie came from The Beatles film The Magical Mystery Tour, so yeah, I'd guess they're influenced by The Beatles just a little. :)

  • @jjp009 I agree. It does sound sort of John Lennon-ish.

  • @jjp009 I think the whole world is inspired by The Beatles.

  • @YohJuca I like to think that too! :) well said! :)

  • I had know idea! But that is Awesome!

  • @jjp009 I WAS JUST THINKING THAT HOLY CRAP :D

  • @jjp009 Death Cab for Cutie is named after a Beatle's song. So yeah. I think it's safe to say that they're inspired by them!

  • @serenade2lion wrong. death cab was NOT named after a beatles song buddy.

  • Comment removed

  • @casith181 Sorry. My mistake - but the song WAS featured in Magical Mystery Tour, which is where the Beatles reference came in. I just got it confused.

  • @jjp009 all the greatest bands were inspired by the beatles. :)

  • @jjp009 Maybe it was just from reading your comment, and thinking abut your comment, but while singing along (at the beginning), I accidentaly sang some of "Yellow Submarine" to this tune, lol!

  • @jjp009 You're absolutely correct - very Imagine-esque.

  • @jjp009 man, you're right.

    so cool.

  • @jjp009 death cab for cutie was an unrelased song by the beatles

  • @Jimiller1eight7 Actually it was on the Beatles' television film Magical Mystery Tour performed and composed by Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. The song is on youtube.

  • Comment removed

  • @jjp009 In their VH1 Special, Ben and Chris mention they are fans of John's solo work.

  • @jjp009 You're thinking of "Imagine" by Lennon

  • lol nice username. thanks for the song!
