btw i believe the best options currently are either downloading the google voice client Talkatone (which serves as both a dialer and a google talk client, but cannot recieve calls), or downloading a softphone like Acrobits Softphone as the SIP client and registering for a free SIP gate account, then using google voice as the service

use fring, and go to addons and click SIP and click Voip Stunt and you will need to go to the website Voipstunt.c o m and then just download the program and sign up (uninstall the program if you want) log in with your username and passowrd on ipod touch (fring>SIP>CoipStunt and click OK or something) then go back to fring and write in a number, this does not work on mobile phones, just normal telephones. (i've tested and i could call me friend even he is far away from here)

Dude, you don't have to jailbreak your iPod at all. There's an App in the Appstore that's called iCall. Then all you need is a mic.

I have iPod Touch 1st Generation 16GB and I don't have this installer thing. There's a program in the applications where your can order for $6.99 and after than I don't know what to think. The whole big thing about this for wi fi phone is to take down the greedy cell phone companies. I used to know a lady that had a ton of stock in one of those companies and those people were greedy as all. They didn't NEED it when they got lot's of money they didn't share with friends and neighbors only them.
