  • i'll give 4.9/5

  • I completely agree with what you've said. The romance is built up in such a way as to completely fuck with your emotions at the end and screw you over in an attempt to tug at your heart, and when I mean tug I mean shatter. The girl moves on in life while the boy is frozen in time metaphorically, and is stuck in a place where misery guides him. It sends mixed signals that end up nowhere and try to screw with you at the end.

  • @d4n13lr0x then you really dont get the movie. this movie is the best among all of his movie because its real.

  • I seen Voices and then this and the similarities are there. But Voices was from the girls point of view while this is from the boys.

Also this one unlike voices has a real known resolution. and wraps up the story with him moving on.

Voices is a more open ending left for the viewer to contemplate the fate of the girl and will the man find her. If he does find her I think its safe to say they'll still be going out.

  • I REALLY have to disagree with you about the ending. I thought that it was one of the most beutifull scenes in the entire movie because it ''does'' wrap up everything quite nicely. If you remember the scene in the begining when they're standing on each side of the train tracks waiting for the trains to pass, it was the exact same scenario except this time...she didn't wait for him. But when he walks away you can see a small smile on his face, and it's then you can tell that he's really moved on.

  • @1993ekblom It tells he moved on, yet the movie built up a romance that never went anywhere and ended up sending mixed signals to all parties involved with the only conclusion made clear is the main girl has already married someone and he's happy for it? That's not what i call real clear personally.

  • @BionicSlime I guess your right, But in the end it's really up to personal taste to decide what you liked about the film. And as far as your rating goes, I'm not going to argue with that...I've read allot of reviews that were way ''WAY'' worse.

  • @1993ekblom wow i haven't noticed that at all you totally changed my perspective. however I've seen the series in an awful quality which did not let me enjoy it, and some images were blurry and even pixilated. If you could please advise me a website or please give me a link where can i watch it in high or decent quality. I will strongly appreciate that and thank you. =)

  • @Andoril112ss if you want good quality I don't think you'll be able to find a good streem online.

You should either buy it or download it from a torrent site (I would strongly sugest buying the movie because it helps to further aid the production of more Makoto Shinkai films).

  • Continued...most.when He say her at the end and relized that she didn't even notice/remembered him,he smiled because he knew with out a doubt that she was finally was at peace and was happy.Thad why he smiled.because she forgot about him and moved on instead of being the main cause of depression or worryness.

  • Great review but I'd like to point out something, about the ending.spoiler alert!!!it makes a lot of sense and is satifying if you payed close attention to the main character, throughout the series he was so infatuated her that he cared more about her worries than his own well being.what I mean is that it wasn't about him missing her it was about what she was going through when she missed him is was disturbed him the

  • 5 Centimeters Per Second seems like a slideshow, the world seems empty and lifeless, the story is good, but nothing to write home about. I give this a 2/5 for the pretty artwork, I'm probably one of the few who found this movie boring.

  • There's a manga series actually... I believe it's in TokyoPop

  • Did you watch it w/ subtitles or a dubbed version? I saw the subtitled version and the voice acting was phenomenal.

  • WTF is up with the intro, it made me laugh so hard.

  • One awesome director

  • Good review of this movie, but i do have to disagree with one thing and i know opinions are opinions you have yours and i have mine, but 3.5 out of is is pretty hash just based on the the fact it is a spiting image of voices of a distant star. I have seen both of these anime and yea you are right there are very similar, but is that a reason to rate this a 3.5? If you take it for what it is and not saying i saw something like this before this would easily be a 4 or a 5. It just a great movie.

  • @facelessnophantom My issue is though this isn't new territory and its merely more of the same. Its one of those things where if you saw this first then this would appear awesome and "Voices" would seem like a copycat. But either way, the anime just basically go over the same message, the difference is merely the approach and I just felt there was nothing different here, that's why I rated it that way. I just felt it all seems too similar.

  • @BionicSlime well i guess you have a point, things like being copy dont really bother me cause there are alot of anime that copy each other. Just to give you a heads up if you didnt see a place promised in our early days, it is alway super similar to voice even more than 5cm. It seems that most of this director work follows the same theme.

  • @facelessnophantom And that was another issue I had. Anime's may be similar in a lot of ways but there will always differences and usually big ones too, where as this director doesn't really seem to be trying anything new and seems like he's re-gifting the same idea over and over.

  • @BionicSlime lol, i guess that he live by the philosophy that if its not broke dont fix it.

  • @BionicSlime You have a point, but the execution is even more important imo. When you go into this genre, there isn't much that hasn't been done before. It's about how the story is told and I thought it was one of the best I've seen.

  • Reviews are reviews it doesnt change the film guys. you ither like it or not. or just say meh on it

  • my heart broke at 500cm per second when i watched this movie

  • you know, im asking myself as to why...why i stumble upon this movie?...

..i have a lot of emotions right now...and this movie, can really relate in my life on most of the points of the film...and im sad...seriously... :(

    good reviews though,..

as for the question why you have to watch this movie?..well, we can only answer it after the film...in some point i can deeply relate into this movie... :D

  • I like your reviews. Please keep it up.

  • pretty good review, i love this movie with a passion! though a pity you gave it a 3 1/2 out of 5, i give it a 10/10 personally.

  • I just felt it was too similar to "Voices of a Distant star", it felt like I was almost watching the same anime.

  • i gotta say this movie, princess monoki (which i just recently saw your review for ), and voices of a distant star are all very good movies and very well animated. And you are also right about the flaws but they are all still excellent movies to watch!

  • you mean princess mononoche

  • You mean Princess Mononoke

  • oh yea my mistake, lol

  • great review bro! thanks soo much man. :) And no matter how much I loved 5 cm, I agree 100% with you on the flaws. I actually recently watched "Voices of a Distant Star" last week and def see the similarities.

  • I am very glad you are pleased, I always try to review anime/films unbiased and be honest in my comments and I am glad you appreciate it. Any other reviews I can manage, let me know and I will do my best, pleasure to be of service ^^
