Nope..Their songwriting hasn't gone to shit since FiI. In fact, that's the album that everyone started doubting their songwriting capabilities and inspiration..then SFAM was written and is some of their best work to date. I don't believe they are fighting each other's ego's either..because it seems they all have an equal part (except LaBrie) in what's written. Also, Rudess is just a different type of keyboardist than Moore or Sherinian are..which also accounts for the change in songwriting.

Hysteria and Never Enough sound a lot of like in some parts...no copying though. There are plenty of pairs of songs out there that get mistaken for each other, because good song writers pretty much use the same basis for writing songs. But take time to look at the forest, not just one tree(or song).

Dream Theater and Museare two different acts, and although they like each other Muse is certainly not influenced by DT. They both have a different style of music. The overall Muse comparison didn't enter the discussion until you mentioned it. It's not about Muse quality versus Dream Theater quality. It's not about saying Dream Theater are a bad band. I am horribly excited about this new CD... though a little sick of people saying "this song is a ___clone" or "this song sounds alot like ____"... DT has made like 5 million songs, and they are PROGRESSIVE. Their songs will vary alot and no CDs will sound identical. Muse - Take a Bow. I'm a big DT fan and am fully aware how the band borrow from their influences (ie. Solitary Shell = Solsbury Hill by Peter Gabriel, Home = Forty-Six & 2 by Tool) and quite enjoy the fact they do it; but for some reason this whole Muse sound really grinds me gears (and I'm a Muse fan too). The fact is I miss the sound/days of I&W, Awake... ahh well.

1. Everything they did with this album is a combination of things they have done in the past.

2. The songs looking bad is YOUR opinion. I'd wish that other bands would display the same musicianship that DT has..the music scene in metal and rock in general would be a much better place.
