Vid was very helpful, but this didn't work for me. Is there some other reason why my sx70 would not make that noise signaling that the film is being recognized? I found it in my father's closet. It hasn't been used in decades, but he says nothing happened to it that it shouldn't be working properly. Any ideas?
This is good although to put 600 film in an sx70 you would also need to add a filter and adjust the exposure. Also you can now buy sx70 from the impossible project anyway.
@tomsmith100 the SX70 is fixed aperture (f/8). Only the shutter speed adjusts according to lighting conditions. "Windkind0" was not asking about using 600 film in an SX70. He/She was asking about using SX70 film in a 600 camera (the opposite of your question). doing so would result in severely underexposed photos due to the reason stated above.
Hey Polybun, I have the SX-70 Alpha 1. Do I need to remove the ND filter on that one as well?
Also, what happens if you don't remove the ND filter? I snapped about 3 shots of my last remaining 600 film in the SX-70-Alpha 1 and it shot quite beautifully.
You really only need to remove the center too. However, the 600 film is 1.5 stops faster than the sx-70 type film. So you want to also remove the ND filter that is infront of the light sensor. OR, put a 2 stop ND filter over the lens.
scalples at dawn .cheers

Does anyone know if this works also the other way round? Getting SX-70-Film into a 600-Cam.
Windkind0 2 years ago
yeah, you just have to tilt it. ... it was in the video. from 1:46 on.

@Windkind0
that would be a waste of film. the photos would be severely underexposed...almost black.
also, using 600 film in an sx-70 requires more than removing the tabs. you also must compensate for the difference in film speed.
sx-70 film is 150 ISO, while 600 is 640 ISO. about a 2 stop difference.

@artbybradley Can you not simply place a filter on the SX 70 and change aperture and the exposure and time?
