  • Why the fuck do they press pause so much in the beginning?

  • This Silent Hill was definetly the most where I felt like I was in it since it was first person. It was a blast playing it.

  • I don't know how accurate I am in saying this, cuz I havnt played the game yet, but the seems MORE action oriented than the previous games because you dont have weapons. Its all free running and it feels intense. It makes me think of a 3rd person horror version of mirrors edge...whats more is that the monsters seem to take you seriously rather than letting you walk past them like they did in some of the older games.

  • Im getting scared just watching this...

  • There is a key in Bear's ass.

  • This game has no fighting and no weapons for a reason. You need to finish the game to find out though:p

  • Description should be: "A confused Adam Sessler bungles with a controller he does not understand before quitting in frustration to write the most unjustified and inaccurate review of his career."

  • This game is quite amazing and a perfect new installment for the series. It needed a relaunch and the fighting was so robotic. This is realistic and terrifying. The game messes with your head as well. Then you add looking over your shoulder with raw shocks right on your ass. I can't wait for the sequel on the Wii.

  • Alright. Before I write what I think about this, let me say I have been a Silent Hill fan since the very first one came out for PS1 back in 1999.

Silent Hill games rank in this order for myself: - 2, followed very closely by 1 - Origins and 3 follow in a tie - 4 and Homecoming come in dead last. I was not a huge fan of either.

I have finished every game, most more than once. With all that said, here is what I have to say about this upcoming instalment.

    Not very pleased....Why?

  • 1. No weapons. Seems like a good idea at first, the idea being the player should be more scared with nothing to protect themselves with. Well maybe it will be scary at first, but it will get down right annoying very, very fast. Silent Hill 5 is a prime example. Ammo was so hard to come by and the enemies were harder than previous games to take down. You could even mention Silent Hill 4. The ghosts that can't be killed were scary at first, but were more than annoying after a small amount of time.

  • 2. We are going back to the first game! Well kind of. Same characters, but they all look different (not sure why Dahlia looks like a whore). Same story...well...not really. I see no cult involved, which was a HUGE influence in Silent Hill's story line. There is something that looks like an 'other' world, but instead of it being a world of rust, blood, bodies, etc.....it's ice. I live in Rochester, NY, and driving in ice CAN be kind of scary....but it doesn't work here.

  • 3. They want it to feel less like a game. An example of this stated in an interview with developers, is they did not like how in other Silent Hill games you needed to pause the game to access documents and change weapons. Well ok, but you gave us basically an iphone in game....scary...? Also when you are running away from the creatures, you KNOW where to go by the blue lines that outline objects. Yeah, THAT doesn't make me feel like I'm in a game at all.

  • 4. Monster (s)?. Even though I was not a huge fan of Silent Hill 5, the monsters still looked pretty damn good. Maybe it is too early to gripe about this, but so far all I see is the same creature in every trailer I have seen for Shattered memories. Also, the other thing about Silent Hill 5 I did enjoy was the revamped idea of boss fights. If you truely do not get any weapons in this game, will that concept be void?

  • Things I like about Shattered Memories:

    1. The fact that you move the flashlight around with your own hand seems pretty neat. The ability to shake monsters off you and knock objects down with the movements you make are also great ideas.

    2. Akiria is BACK! Yes the music guru of the previous Silent Hill games Akira Yamaoka has returned to do the soundtrack to this game. Even by just the gameplay trailers, I already like the music.

  • Bottom Line:

I'd be happier if they took the almost exact same game and just remade it for the PS3 and/or Xbox 360. Even then I'm not sure how I'd feel about taking away the (now) primative graphics of Silent Hill 1, but I would rather of had them do that then what they are doing now.

  • @TheOutsider112 Stop spamming your shit. This isn't a review it's a comment section. No one really cares what you think

  • BTW, almost all the doors are open?? XDDD

  • I don't like the idea of not having weapons in this silent hil...

  • Okay, so Harry is a brown-haired guy with glasses, and theres a dead bear for no particular reason?

Who made this game, Stephen Colbert?

  • I don't understand how this guy knows where hes going!!!! I wouldbe running around just to survive..... @theninjaissquirrels

That IS jacked up my friend....yikes

  • that is jacked up

  • sucks what silent hill has no fighting back or whacking with a pipe

  • this game give me the chills. get it?

  • @ikmal017 I really REALLY didn't want to lol at that comment but damit I did. LOL XD

  • If you hide in or under something and they don't find you......Is the nightmare over?

  • nope

  • Harry holds that flare a little bit too close to his face! He's probably wearing those glasses to protect his eyes from sparks. Also, Harry's wife sounds like a bitch! He's probably a pretty good father and husband, but she's one of those women who can never be happy and always needs to be bitching about something! They should have tried The Dr. Phil Show before going anywhere near Silent Hill. Then Harry's trip in the town wouldn't have been so nightmarish and possibly enjoyable...possibly.

  • It's a flashlight, not a flare, so there wouldn't be sparks. It just flickers because it's Silent Hill.

But yeah, his wife sounds like a total bitch. *lol* Seriously, he's better off without her.

  • @WynneL I was referring to 6:26 for the flare. Good. Someone else agrees with me that his wife sounds naggy.

  • 8:17 Oh Interesting puzzle

You have to pay attention to background of the message

  • lol you can see him run right thru some of the doors instead of opening them

  • (This is just my opinion) I wish they could have aleast give you some form of self defense.I would get tired of running from the monsters all the time.Hell I want 2 beat the living shit out of them. Some people like getting push around by the monsters. If u get trap or surrounded by them what can u do.What would u do when u don't have any flares?

  • If you get surrounded and die well try again.

  • yea i no even if it wasn't no weapons they should have at lease let you punch the shit out of the monsters

  • I agree with you. I pretty much hate the wii controller. My arms get tired holding both parts of the controller and shaking them constantly pisses me off. When I heard there wasn't going to be combat in the Wii or ps2 version, I was thinking,

"oh, man! This Silent Hill game is going to be the nail in the coffin for killing the SH franchise." I heard the no combat thing has something to do with the storyline. (you find out later in the game) So I'll give this game a rental before I buy.

  • i got the game today. its actually pretty good. the no combat thing gives you a helpless feeling which kinda makes the game scarrier

  • @iti4lyf1 Thanks for the info. As a fan of the other previous SH games (EXCEPT FOR HOMECOMING!!!) I owe it to myself to pick this one up for a rental at least. It's good the no combat thing makes the game scary, that's the way it should be.

  • @dragonheartsgrave

They got rid of defense becuase it made the game less scary.Would you be scared if some zombie came up to you and you had a shotgun?I wouldn't.

  • But to me I still would be in a way. Because, if you think about it, at some point you'd have to fight or kill something, even if with just your bare hands. Running around or hiding wouldn't make it as scary for me, because it'd be like a nightmare, but you could wake up from one. If I had no choice but to fight something, even if I didn't want to, that'd REALLY scare me.

  • aw man. those giant motion control symbols. talk about immersion.

still, this possibly looks like one of the best wii games yet.

  • idk if your post-human or a demi-god or whatever and have night vision, but i could NEVER make out when to push a bookshelf or a tree down to obstruct the path of the monsters... the symbols are nessasary

  • true facts, although after a while when you're a few hours into it an option for them (especially the ones where you shake the wiimote to drive enemies off your back) to fade away.

  • ugh.

    * an option for them to fade away would be nice.

  • yeah it would be and i might use it on a 2nd playthrough but if they don't include that feature, its shouldn't take away form the game imo

  • wtf? why?

  • Comment removed

  • kinda like Siren games I got Siren Blood Curse on the PS3 one hell of a scary game

  • RUN FORREST RUN

  • 5:43

My thoughts if I was Harry " =( I'm screwed..."

  • I kinda miss the bloody otherworld already. The blood stains, dirty walls and bugs... they made silent hill so creepy.

  • who knows maybe during the game the otherowlrd changes to your actions and choices it would be good if it does maybe in the sequel

  • this game gives a new meaning "... when hell frozen..."

  • XD nice

  • i mean 1/12/10

  • now it been delayed to 1/12/09 :\ gamestop

  • This looks pretty awesome, though I'm kinda worried about gameplay - constantly having to run sorta loses te exploration-y feel of the previous games that i liked, though I guess it ramps up the fear factor somewhat.

And "A Moveable Feast", LOL. Hemingway pun.

  • Where are the different enemies? Do those creatures have names?

  • i would call the creatures with boobs, "Lusters"......lame......

  • OH GOD I LOVE WHAT THEY'VE DONE WITH THE SOUND!

and totally digging the Akira brand music too.

  • i really like how the flashlight dims out here and there

  • if you were in that situation, would YOU run or fight?

Besides, the ice is probably symbolism.

  • I doubt very much that anyone would try to stay and fight. This makes it more realistic.

Besides, I've heard that people are more at there psychological breaking point in the bitter cold. But the bloody stuff did have merit.

Why don't we just play the game before we make premature judgments?

  • It depends doesnt it. 'fight or flight' psychology is independent to each person.

The cold is a psychological breaking point, but the cold isnt whats having psychological effect in this game from what Konami team are saying, its based on questionnaires and stuff like that, not actual effects. Its based more on us than Harry, which is what I have the gripe with.

And pre judgements are the only thing we can do to without wasting money if we hate it or enjoying it if we love it!

  • Well, I figure that Konami is making a very big chance. I commend them for trying something new, in style and in game play.

It seems they are focusing more on horror more than combat. I would actually like to see how it turns out.

  • @alucardv2: How can you even jokingly call this something like RE4.. Resident Evil went from survival horror to plain action (while still being good at what it does), while Shattered Memories obviously stays true to survival horror genre.

  • Quite simple really.

I have yet to see any form of horror in this wii edition yet, other than hiding under a bed from some mediocre graphic pink thinks which look 5 times worse than a PS2 game.

  • WOOO!! SILENT HILL!!!! (falls off chair)

    ummm... yeah, can't wait.

  • deeply unsettling. love it :)

  • This vid made me miss Team Silent even more

  • They said that there won't be any weapons....

  • Why do you think they call it Shattered Memories?

  • its been delayed to 12/8/09 :\ gamestop

  • ice huh, pretty cool. different but cool, Silent....Lonely...>Desolate...and cold !, fits the series lore

  • cant wait for this

  • oh yeah Im thinking at the end of the video when your on the phone the animal sound box is the puzzel any body get the sounds I got duck, owl, parrot x2,owl

  • I got duck, owl, parrot x2, chicken. Because if you look closely on the sound box there are four animals: a duck, an owl, a parrot, and (what looks like to me) a chicken. Boy I can not wait to sit back & watch somebody play this game. ^_^

  • what do you guys think the unlockables are (if any)?

I hope once you beat it you get to unlock a steel pipe-then it would be great

  • It's just my opinion people. Ice is scary for some, I'm sure. I just happen to live in a place with harsh winters and I'm used to it, so I don't find it to be creepy. I have no doubt it will still be a good game. :)

  • How are they going to pull off the Cybil Boss fight and The God Boss? Theyd better not screw it up!

  • I'm getting the impression there is no Cybil boss or God boss. Remember that it's a re-imagining with a new story...

  • yes new gp

  • looks sick

  • whoa at 3:44 shit was freaky

  • This game will be pretty good... but I can't see it holding a candle to any previous silent hill games. Look at how he runs through the environments... no exploring, no taking a look at creepy scenery, just running for your life through blackness and blue. Not immersive, only slightly scary... I am going to miss actually looking at stuff in the background, etc. And I don't care what anyone says, blood and gore and rust = scary. Ice = not scary.

  • Someone needs to pay more attention to interviews. You WILL be given the chance to explore.

But I agree with you; blood/gore/rust > ice.

  • I know there are SOME exploring parts, but I'd like to be able to explore every area I can walk around. Unless maybe you come back to that big runaway scene later and there's no monsters and you can explore it then... I do have high hopes for this game, I like SH Origins and Homecoming, but the ice is just making me skeptical. I know the fact that in SH2, Angela sees fire, so why not ice for someone else? Makes sense in the universe, but ice just isn't creepy.

  • Ever seen "The Thing"? That movie makes cold environments seem pretty scary. I would like to also mention that aren't "chills" a common sign of fear? You feel chills both when you're cold and afraid.

I'm also gonna be honest: blood and rust gets a bit old after about SIX games. Changing it up seems like a nice change of pace.

  • Ice is scary. You're alone, it's dark. The only thing you feel is the chill down your spine

  • I actually thought the ice statues were pretty creepy, and while it may not be "immersed" scary, but when you're running, it looks like monsters pop out of nowhere in places you don't expect.

  • Agree man. But this game is based in the person who will play it and not Harry.

    Ice = Loneliness and Suicide.

So, I can't wait for it.

  • This game does look very interesting and plays interesting aswell..i mean ..whow c: Cant wait to get this game..I have mostly all of the silent hill games..I wont mind haveing a reimagind one. Specially one thats quite origional x3
