The person who posted this has some of the facts incorrect. I was with Curtis Knight for 16 1/2 years and also worked for Ed Chalpin about 6 years. Curtis is the man who discovered Jimi Hendrix, provided him with an amp and guitar, invited him to play with his band Curtis Knight and the Squires, in December of 1994. He later took Jimi to meet Ed Chalpin and record in his studio. Ed Chalpin was Curtis Knight's manager at the time. As a result PPX signed a production agreement with Jimi.
That's Bernard Purdie on "Flashing". Of all the players on that session, Purdie was the most well-known. Curtis remembered Hendrix was excited to meet the highly regarded drummer and was reported to have asked Purdie "Hey man, did you bring your signs?" - referring to the famous "You done hired Bernard "Pretty" Purdie, the little old hit maker" advertisement, which Purdie would proudly display beside his kit during sessions. When Purdie produced the signs, Hendrix laughingly exclaimed "Far out!”
Actually, Curtis Knight performed with Jimi Hendrix and was managed by Ed Chalpin. Jimi Hendrix signed a production agreement with Ed Chalpin. I was with Curtis Knight for 16 1/2 years and worked for Ed Chalpin for a while as well.
Ive got this on a cd boxset without the vocals and it says Jimi did this 1st take on a wah wah he was demonstrating because it was a prototype, the guy asked jimi to 'do something to see what it sounds like' and he came up with this! They then did it again live with the band... Awesome!!!
@pactater Not only did he steal his money, there is some evidence that he (Jeffrey) actually murdered Jimi, as Hendrix was planning to leave him for another manager. Jeffrey owed a ton of money to the mob, and Jeffrey had a life insurance policy on Jimi. if Jimi left, Jeffrey was dead meat, and had no way of paying the debts off.
@dannon2010 No not only was he planning on it he did, Jeffrey was fired about a week before Hendrix's death. At one of Hendrix's final concerts he actually made fun of him on-stage calling him out as being a homosexual in public. I would say Hendrix was murdered 100%... Fucking bullshit....
He was awesome even back then.... I thank God for him adopting the Wah Wah pedal............ Why did you have to leave us so early?...... I have this mental picture of Hendrix... John Lennon .... Bob Marley together jamming....... (I might have to wait a while for that) Bless you Jimmy
My old Sony's never let me down. Mind you, downstairs I run a 1971 Lenco deck through a 1969 Leak Delta 70 amp, which loves powering my huge 1969 Goodmans Magister speakers. Sounds bloody brilliant.
Glad to see your a Tarbuck / Vorderman enthusiast! ;)
One of my favourite Hendrix tunes of all time. On the album "Get that Feeling" the version is a bit different. from 0:36 to 1:07 is not on the album version. From 1:16 to 1:41 . . . sooooo bad, man. Wow. The PPX/GEMM version has this tune without vocals. I don't know. I don't like it without vocals. I think Jimi didn't like this tune at all.
This actually isn't bad. Hendrix messed up, tho'. Gave Chalpin extra ammunition.

Michael Jeffrey is the one to be mad at. He drove Jimi to death with an insane touring schedule, and stole his money in the process.
