Basketball Drills - Help Defense

I didn't get this drill at all. I brought my 8th grade team down quite a bit because I was just standing around trying to figure out where I was supposed to be. This drill sort of cleared things up, but I'm not a fast thinker and in games my mind doesn't really comprehend what goes on.

ya we use this defense on my basketball team

(midle school 8th grade boys)ALTHOUGH the rest of my teametes dont run it right i think if we did itw ould help a lot

ehh this defence is not very good because if the players on the offensive team are good enough one of them can just cut in when they are passing the ball around the 3 point line and get an easy layup

szicu29 thats why you have a player on help side to deny the layup and the players can easilly get to thier man if it is passed

really? Because nearly every great coach runs help rather it be college or what. Help man is the best defense and if ran correctly is the only defense you really need. And this is a drill to teach help defense thats why if you look there isn't a 5th player. It shows you where you should be if your on ball, 1 pass away, 2 passes away, etc. the help players position themselves to where they can both see their player and the player with the ball so that they can always know where their player is.
