Jordan is the unquestioned goat but not when it comes to dunks. Now i have not been around long enough to know some of the older players like dr j and so on but ive seen plenty of kobe, jordan, lebron, mcgrady and vince carter dunks; with that being said, vince carter was clearly a better dunker that any other player in history of televised dunks. Jordan pioneered great dunks with power and finess but vince took it to another level!!!

@lmayj9 It's tough to argue for both guys not to be number 1 at the end of the day. But I think they valued the big game dunks in the playoffs, Jordan definitely did it at the biggest stages of the sport. Like I said its pretty hard to argue that Vince is not number 1 too.

And free throw lean dunk with style is the most iconic dunk out there, but at the same time, I will say in that 88 dunk contest, Nique did beat out MJ.
Each dunk he did pretty almost blew the t.v. up, but MJ had the home crowd and court advantage.

no J Rich in the top 20?? Really? This is probably based off of in game dunks but cmon look at his dunks in the dunk contest. He did the 2 most difficult in between the leg dunks. 1st it was the won that won him the contest-on the baseline threw it to himself reverse in between the legs and finished with the left hand. 2nd was the off the glass in between the leg dunk. He even did windmalls and 360's IN GAMES. Cmonnn

Vince became immortalized after he won the dunk contest which was the greatest succession of dunks I've ever seen. But people tend to forget what Jordan did on a nightly basis for over a decade - off of one foot or two, at the dunk contest or in playoff basketball, with a hand in his face or on a fast-break, and at the very least what he did in the 80s when he averaged 35/37 points a game and was unstoppable at the rim.. Impact - perspective - style, completely agree with the list.

VC rated number one by so many here because they're too young to have ever seen MJ during his career from '85 onward.
The number of incredible in-game dunks he displayed outnumber anyone ever, because he possessed the ability to dunk with one foot or two feet, gliding or straight up, with power, graceful style, body contortion, fierce facials (often over more than one person), and in traffic dunks.

@timjthru The scissors kicks and body contortions cant be compared to anyone - MJ stands alone, he is art! My opinion of course, but I like body art in a dunk. VC makes dunking look almost too smooth and robotic (unreal) so it's easy for people to see VC as the best. But our opinions aside, MJ did have more versatility, more years, more dunks, the MOST facials, dunks on 2,3,4 people, etc

And besides, there are too many definitions to define a dunk:
dunk contest dunks, facial dunks, graceful dunks, power dunks, body contortion dunks, in traffic dunks, dunking on more than one player (those are serious dunks).
Based on the above criteria though, the list top 3 in their respective order are correct

You don't see Dominique 'shoving the guys head down a whole foot', nor do you see him 'pushing off for elevation' at 6:19; yet VC got away with an offensive foul with a violent shove to Weiss head, then uses Weiss as a 'horse' to push off for the jumpover dunk.
If 'nique spreads his legs, he'd clear anyone, but he's too smart to take that dangerous risk. It's not a dunk contest, so the defender doesn't know he's going to be jumped over - If he reases his arm, a career-ending injury may ensue
