Thanks so much for posting this. I had been searching the internet with no luck. I had these songs on a 45 lp and they were favorites. Such a simpler time! Thanks again!
I have been to many antique stores and calling about it and I found that the record was made in 1955 and it was made from Pickwick books who sold it in the dime stores. But Pickwick never kept a copy for future orders. So finding this one is especially close to my heart
Definately a time shock for the Baby Boomers! I collect 45s and discover these bygone songs and shows they just don't make Xmas music like they used to (I collect year round so if a Christmas song comes up in June, I still listen just to see what it sounds like!)
Here Comes Peter Cottontail Hopping down the bunny trail", and I used to sing along with them all as a kid. I'm still like how I was back then adnd now I treat Youtube the way I did with my little phonograph I used to have... just sit there and play those cute little songs. I also thank the owner of this video (the uploader) for putting these songs on the internet for me to play and be little again.
@jackwolf131 When I was little, I used to sit in front of my record player and dance a little to some songs (I was so cute when I was little I was told), and amung these two songs I played "Puff, the magic dragon", "I'm a little tea pot" by Betty Harris, "Old Mother Hubbard" by Jack Arthur, "Sleepy town Train" Narrated by The Fairyland Players,
@jackwolf131 Well, if it weren't for all these people commenting like this, I wouldn't have happy times of playing these songs again (this time on youtube) and being a little kid again.
OK, I had this album too. It was actually my older sibling's from the mid to late 50's. The cover was completely different - an illustration of Santa flying over rooftops. The title was "A Children's Christmas", and I still have it somewhere. Perhaps this is a reissue from a few years later?
Thank you so very very much for this! I just typed in eighteen cents and was so overjoyed when I saw your posting! I absolutely loved this album when I was a little boy and have thought about it at Christmas over the years!
Thank you for posting, this is the most special thing I have ever seen on Youtube.
It's just like receiving a wonderful present from my childhood!
It was my favorite too. Actually the album we had at our house was different, but the songs I remembered from it were The Little Christmas Stocking With The Hole In The Toe, I've Got Eighteen Cents To Spend For Christmas, and Mixie Pixie. I found this album on eBay a few years ago and grabbed it up. If you mean you want a copy of the vinyl album you'd have to be incredibly lucky, as I was, to find it. If you want a CD of the music on the album though that's obtainable.
OMG! I still have this vinyl album at home and have wished for the anbility to play it so many Christmases now! I never expected to hear any part of it ever again (record players are getting harder and more expensive to find these days). I'm so glad I typed in Eighteen Cents to YouTube today. I'm 51 but today after hearing these songs I am once again 8 years old and Christmas is a magical time once more. Thank You!
Please let me know if you have an idea where I can get a copy of this album!! This was my favorite Christmas Album as a child. I know most all of the words to these songs and have sang them for my grandchildren, without the music of course, but would love to share the actual album with them. They love the little christmas stocking with the hole in the toe. My very favorite on the album!!!
Alright, I'd be happy to post more of the children's songs off the album. I didn't realize anyone would be interested in them. Give me some time and check back in a week or two.
