But Randy and Brett were talking for a while, and Randy really wanted to go to Green Bay. This is what started all the drama with Favre and the GM.

Moss didn't want to go to GB. He wanted to go to a winner. The 2007 Packers weren't even supposed to be winners. They simply had a weak schedule and outplayed all their opponents, not to mention the fact that nobody got hurt.
We didn't get Moss because Thompson offered a 5th Round pick and Belichick offered a 4th at the very last second.
And you can't just take money out of someone's salary to give it to someone else. It's more complicated than that.

This is EXACTLY what I mean when I say Ted Thompson is not popular because he doesn't draft big name players a lot. Yes, I too questioned the pick at first but Thompson's draft strategy is to build a solid depth chart. So far it has worked nicely. If the Packers didn't fire Mike Shreman and got Thompson we would barely be better than the Lions right now. In Sherman's last season he went 5-11, Thompson and McCarthy are much better.

Maybe but ya know what's sad? WE could have had Randy Moss, and do you know for how much? That's right the league minimum 250k. But Ted Thompson didn't even want to pay him that much. So you know what Favre said? He went to Ted Thompson and said "Take the 250 out of my salary and pay him." Ted of course said no, and Randy went to New England. But Randy and Brett were talking for a while, and Randy really wanted to go to Green Bay. This is what started all the drama with Favre and the GM.

You have it all wrong.
Moss didn't want to go to GB. He wanted to go to a winner. The 2007 Packers weren't even supposed to be winners. They simply had a weak schedule and outplayed all their opponents, not to mention the fact that nobody got hurt.
We didn't get Moss because Thompson offered a 5th Round pick and Belichick offered a 4th at the very last second.
And you can't just take money out of someone's salary to give it to someone else. It's more complicated than that.

yeah, but contracts are restructured a lot in the NFL. Ted misses out on a lot of players because he isn't proactive. Both Randy Moss and Tony Gonzalez could have been in GB if Ted was willing to spend just a bit more.

This is EXACTLY what I mean when I say Ted Thompson is not popular because he doesn't draft big name players a lot. Yes, I too questioned the pick at first but Thompson's draft strategy is to build a solid depth chart. So far it has worked nicely. If the Packers didn't fire Mike Shreman and got Thompson we would barely be better than the Lions right now. In Sherman's last season he went 5-11, Thompson and McCarthy are much better.
