I love the K/S slash video but in reality it would not be a good idea for Kirk and Spock to get together it would ruin the dynamics between. There is also another aspect of their relationship/love...when soldiers have been through wars/tough situations they develop a bond that is stronger and goes beyond physical love because of the trust they have built

As for father figures, I think Pike fills that role quite nicely. Plus, he has one hell of a moment during the climax, when he shoots that Klingon.

As for scene-stealers, gimme some Chekov and Sulu. And a hell of a lot more Bones. You can never have enough Bones.

Well, you know, Spock and Kirk hated each other for 3/4 of the film, so the whole Spock/Uhura thing makes sense in the essence that neither would care to even think about hugging (much less kissing) the other. But if you ask me, Spock Prime seemed to have a thing for Kirk, though obviously quelled because... well, he's a Vulcan and from another time period. Haha. So the "cannon" really could exist there. The two seemed rather content with one another by the end :) Just my opinion though.

When Spock and Kirk were getting closer on the bridge after Kirk beamed aboard from Delta Vega, I was secretly wishing that Kirk would try to get Spock to lose control by grabbing his face, and pulling him in for a kiss! ^_^
