@arm089 i think the difference between specifically semi professional and expert is small now. d7000 is perhaps all we all need. go to... freedslr dot com change dot with . and get a chance to bring home completely new Nikon D7000
Well the resolution may be greater but there is a huge difference. The Nikon D5000 shoots in 24p where the Canon shoots in 30fps or 20fps(fullhd). To get the "film" look, get the Nikon D5000
I you have the money, buy the Canon! Although the D5000 is not a bad device, it comes nowere near the capabilities of the 5D. For a comparison, google for "reverie" it's a short filmed with only Canon 5D's . Make shure you get the 1080p version, from Canon's website. It's absolutely stunning...
Yeah... have you noticed what kind of lenses did they use?, I mean, is a good camera, but they used many lenses which are over $1k or $2k, also the the great experience of the director. What I'm trying to say is that you won't be making those kind of videos right out of the box. Also, how can you compare a $700 Nikon to a $2000 Canon...
dude, a dslr camera even if it's just a 6 megapixel nikon d40 can surpass ur point & shoot even with it's high megapixel count.. it's not really about megapixels, cuz if it were, camera companies wud have stopped at making these bulky cameras.

I am sure the audio was off due to being out side and on top of that being in NYC, how is the audio quality indoors?

At the expense of sounding like an idiot for reciting old internet memes, I will admit that I burst out laughing when you said "over 900,000 pixels."

this is really true,
the imaging chip for the point and shoot is like 1cubic square
unlike the DSLRs which are big as or bigger than a postage stamp
