The lyrics are ridiculous, the melody is infantile and the singer has such a bad voice that if my apartment building allowed pets, the dogs would be howling as the commercial aired.

I mute the TV as soon as I notice it is going to start or I switch to another channel for about 30 secs (to be completely safe). Sometimes, however, I'm not quick enough...

I couldn't agree more. I have the Science Channel on quite a lot, and it airs just about EVERY commercial break. I also run for the mute button. But honestly lately it has been on so much I stopped leaving the channel on as it sends chills down my spine. If I want to watch something I now DVR it on the SC and skip ALL commercials.
