Wild airport, but actually a very good design. The uphill for landing helps to bleed off a lot of speed, and the downhill slope increases speed for faster rotating time.
actually the instructor was saying "gas, gas, gas" which means add power (it's german). and believe me, you'd rather expedite (to use an aviation term) than tow your aircraft up there when you're stuck in the middle of the runway :-) cheers
well usually the plane senses a stall just before it happens so they are probably floating just above stall speed, like you should, it happens all the time when i fly cessnas.
How ironic, you go up to land and down to take off. :/

It's the only airport in the world that when you land, you need to use full throttle xD

The stall warning Right before landing indicates a perfect landing. It was on purpuse, as landing at minimum Airspeed is neccesary for a short stop-
Without a doubt, the pilot has the experience that all pilots should have.

I've been there, and was lucky enough to have a nice view throught the cockpit front windows. Damn, was it scary when you touch down :P

That looked like crashing right before the runway, but then again I have been watching too many 747 cockpit views. This is a little smaller.....

I think you need special mountain training in order to land here
flyyouindotcom 2 years ago 7
@flyyouindotcom Not just special mountain training, you need to be checked out to fly to that specific runway.

Was this the same runway they used for a james bond movie ?
flyyouindotcom 2 years ago
Yes, they actually did for "Tomorrow Never Dies" back in 1997. I didn't see Mr Brosnan in the restaurant though ;-)
