I wish my parents and I knew all that at an earlier stage of our lives! I am 37 &just learned I have AS! And a hint: as I never knew I was AS until a few months ago, i must say that AS people learn, discover and create beautiful things when they are left on their own!l! So, dont worry if they look like they need more care as children, leave them to discover themselves better and they r more likely to thrive!!!
This is a very good and informative. My son whom is 14 just went through a event that well he is still having his melt down weeks later. Driving has gotten worse with him now I can not even go on a highway with him in the car or another melt down.
My meltdown's lasted over a year now, gawd I wanna kill myself. This is what happens when your life crashes down and all your plans and hard work are ruined, fffffffsfdsdf gawd I hate lesbians.
I wonder if Mom would've been less awful when I was younger if she had a clue about my problem. :v
It always feels so weird being the guy with the issue and not an onlooker; I didn't think I'd have problems seeing 3D with the 3DS, for instance. Being an Aspie is a little bigger, though. :/
Thank you for this. I have a 6 yr old with Aspergers and try to explain to friends and family his meltdowns. this is an excellent video to learn and educate.
my mother- my son's grandmother has a way of calming my 10 yo Asperger child that no one has been able to reproduce. Your grandson (and his parents) are so lucky to have you. Thank you for this video. It is so heartbreaking to see one's child suffer like this. Those moments when they (and you) can come up for air and see a possible way out- those mean the world.

I have aspergers and work with this population. Unless you are a mother or teacher of such children you have NO idea. It can be VERY rough. However, I can understand on a personal level how it's hard to regulate oneself at times. I absolutely love my job, hits and all ;)
very nice video, im only 21, no kids or any relation to anyone with aspbergers. But for some reason aspbergers facinates me, and im not even a psych major.
@imabadking Are you an idiot? Why do you insist on writing the word wrong? It's written in the description of the video, and in the title. You're a fucking clown, you fucking r-r-r-r-RETARD!!!!!!!! BITCH!!! FUCK OFF!!!! BITCH!!!
@imabadking It's obvious that I struck a nerve with you - it's common for people with Aspergers, such as yourself, to react without any emotion at all, and wonder what they did that caused people to get angry, to point out a fault, etc.
Don't feel bad, r-r-r-r-r-etard - it's not your fault you don't realize when you do something wrong. Why don't we take you back to your councillor for a session and they can explain it to you with colours and shapes? How's that sound? Good? Good :) LOL! LOL!
@matthmatthmatth Not sure if you guessed this specialfriend, but I don't have aspergers, and the reason I "react(ed) without any emotion" in my comment is because...well, I hate to say it, but it's because your a shit-teir troll. But please, continue to mock me for having a this syndrome, for eventually some whiteknight may respond to your comments, and somehow be dumb enough to fall for your trolling. Great lulz will ensue, I'm sure.
@imabadking Altered reality is another symptom of Aspergers - you poor misguided soul. Do you take pills for your issues, or try to "live with it" like a trooper? I see that your sponsor, or "Big Brother" from the local youth establishment has shown you a new word. Did you check out "Urban Dictionary" yet? You will find lots of Funny words there. Have a giggle, have a laugh, I am here waiting for you, captain. LOL! LOL!
@imabadking Oh how cute - did your sponsor let you read the internet alone for a few minutes?
What other memes did you learn about? Want to write me a book report about it? Good job though, I am impressed with you. You almost act as though you don't have Aspergers .. but we all know the truth :)
@imabadking Hahahahaha, this is sooooo funny. Retards like you are the BEST entertainment out there ... it's FREE, it's incredibly EASY to get you soooooooo mad, and the best part is - your social awkwardness just makes it a delight to forward these comments on to a huge group of friends!!
Hey everyone, check out IHAVEIBSKING -he is so depraved, both mentally and physically, that he has to use a Hug Box.
Hey, Temple Grandin - how are ya? BWAHAHAHA.
I repeatedly win over you, defeat you, embarrass and humiliate you - you must be low on the social totem pole in your community to continually come back here, only to be put in your place by me. Well, it's FREE and FUN, so why not! LOL! LOL! Keep coming back, special pal - I'll be here

@imabadking People with Aspergers notice patterns in seemingly routine things. That would explain why your brain is forcing you to post that comment :)

My son is almost 15 now and we JUST got a diagnosis..I KNEW he had some type of Autism, I had that "gut" feeling and no one would listen until just recently. He too would outburst in school and hide under the desk. He is a very picky eater as well. His outbursts were terrifying and exhausting. I am new to Asperger's Syndrome therefor I hope to learn more as he gets older. Thank you for this informative video.
I can identify with most of the things you have mentioned here! My 5yr old son has aspergers and he will regularly destroy his school classroom if a meltdown occurs. His teacher and one to one worker now let him hide under his table on his own special cushion so that he can calm down and feel safe and they are very good with him. He hates surprises and every aspect of his life is timetabled to avoid sudden changes to what he is expecting, its so exhausting. Great informative video, Thank you
@powerkitemad I would not let the kid in this video hold a fork when angry but that is NOT a meltdown. Meltdown is: screaming, kicking, biting, hair pulling, spitting in your face, etc.
@powerkitemad Sounds highly distracting to other students if this is a mainstream classroom. Perhaps a specialized classroom would be better for him. I was in one when I was younger and work in a specialized school. People think they're children are doomed in specialized rooms, but I am going for my doctorate now (I am on the spectrum). I think specialized rooms give the children the services they need, without distracting the non-special needs children. Your son sounds exactly like me.
wow this sounds like my 4 year old daughter but she has not been DXed with Aspergers yet, i am going to take her to her devemontal ped and tell them that her meltdowns are getting worse and they are always realy bad and i hate it that she wont tell us why she had a melt down some times it might be because I might not get her off the bus and daddy will or I might not be their when she wants me to. like tonight she had a realy bad Melt down that lasted for a half hr. all because, daddy got her

I've noticed the same situation in our daughter. Sometimes the meldown has absolutely nothing to do with the situation. I also like the hug approach - works similar to diversion but does not work around the issue but instead acknowledges it and comforts the child.
Thank you, that actually helped me and reaffirmed my views on meltdowns. My 9yr old son has AS and often his meltdown is not about the little thing he seems to be upset about. Often it is because of something else that went on earlier that day.
@tbuggs1 The video is not a meltdown though. I deal with them on a daily basis. They involve hitting, spitting, kicking, hair pulling, etc. I'd say this is just a tantrum.
Thank you very much for this my son has had a melt down a couple of hours ago and it is so draining.....soemtimes its 1 or 2 hours before comes round again ....im at the stage im only just learning about them as we are waiting for diagnosis......
@lindy2017 There is a book called Everything Parents Guide to Tantrums it has helped me in my class :) I'm not a parent of an autistic child. My son has no needs at all which is weird coz I'm on the spectrum.
Zeolite powder cures the paranoia and severe anxiety of aspergers. It saved my life, and I promised myself I would try to help others. do whatever you want with the info im just the messenger.
funny thing is i have Aspergers but this never happens to me.
