As per the 10th amendment The People are in fact individual persons.

It establishes the entrusting of power from the persons to state and federal ministies and also establishes the conditions and process for recapture of those powers. they reert from the fed to the state and from the state to the people.

"The People" collective as in established government does not apply because substate governments are under the state constitution and included in the state entity in the 10th am.

That is the collective body that has the right to bear arms secured by the Second Amendment. There is NOTHING in the Second Amendment to prevent the people of each state from passing strong gun-control laws if they choose.

Uhh, dude? I don't have a copy of Bouvier's at hand, but that definition's at odds with Constitutional jurisprudence. In EVERY case I've ever heard of, the Supreme Court has ruled that, wherever the Bill of Rights has used the words, "The People", it defines an INDIVIDUAL right.

By the definition you cite, the 4th Amendment would be meaningless for you as an individual, and the cops could kick in your door whenever they felt like it - b/c they're not kicking EVERY door, just yours...

Georgia on one hand may love conservative things and therefore elect conservative people to give them what they want. CA would be much more liberal and could get what it wants. The problem is that the American states are not financially independent. They depend on federal funding to subsidize their governments. Its a bit like living at home with your parents, having them pay for your car, phone, tuition etc. until you can fund those things yourself, complaining about them interfering in your life is a bit hypocritical.
