Thessalonikians were always exposed to a more European and Balkania culture steaming from the many commounities of the city. Jews, Bulgarians, French, Italians were our influences. SonicBlunt... this is Thessaloniki. This was always Thessaloniki. All the "traditional stuff" you're reffering to... is Thssaloniki's tradition. Is the tradition that came to the city with the refuggees from Black Sea and Asia Minor. The local population had never any touch with the music you're reffering to. Bouzoukia its a new phenomenon... and for sure.. does not represent Macedonians.
