  • I love when he claps and the police are like uh-uh.

  • Jens <3 <3 <3 <3

  • @TheSkjoth24 Jens is the most awesome name ever

  • jens is absolutely amazing, i love him

  • this is too funny

  • LOL surely wasn't expecting this!

  • He took many of these lyrics from a David Berman poem. Props for liking Berman. But booo for writing a mediocre (at best) song based on a seemingly random selection of Berman lines.

  • @krtsullivan You think is the a "mediocre (at best)" song? Are you kidding?

  • What a charming video!

  • you handsome devil, jens...

  • has a 70s sound

  • jesus....i watched that video like 5 times yesterday and made my thoughts about what i would use my one phonecall for and then later at night i almost got into jail and was happy that i made those thoughts :D

  • After this; ALMOST ALL the music in my iPod sounds like crap :/

  • Wish the police were this hip in my town! Jens come to Traverse City, Michigan and make our whole town hip! Jens music is a mix of Morrissey and Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers with a splash of The Mamas & The Papas accompanied by Martha Reeves backing music. Just great!

  • @chrishuhnke

    Morrissey, huh?

    Hmmm

I find that an interesting comparison. :)

  • Fantastic song! The video is great, too.

  • weak edit at 2:20... lol then he sings 'it's so obvious, so obvious'.... fitting!

  • My brother was once his opening act in Sweden. I was way too young to understand that my brother was virtually hanging out with god.

  • 39 people are not the light.

  • @triumphant2 39 people are content with not being the light.

  • jens,,he's the man!nice song

  • is he wearing a suit of armor?

  • @selainestarr plate mail, which was the precursor to chain maille armour.

  • LOLOL THIS SONG IS FUNNY. I LOVE IT. :)

  • boring as Sweden, and similar to Nick Cave

  • jens is a qt

  • even though he's literally a cross between belle and sebastian and magnetic fields...that doesn't stop him from sounding unique...odd innit? I love you Jens

  • Only good song he has done.

  • Sounds like the smiths crossed with belle and sebastian :)

  • @DarkUchiha95 I know if you don't like don't watch it. Who dumped the cooler of hater-ade on in the interweb?

  • worse song ive ever heard in my life

  • Nice song and video! Good work

  • I'm curious now how I would use my one fone call.

  • the perfect man!!!^^

  • I'm gonna see him at Kings of Convenience concert at jakarta and bandung! <3

    can't wait! =)

  • If I ever get busted I will hopefully remember 0:29 / 1:37 and smile :o)

  • la cara de bien drogo jijii

  • <3<3

  • lol polis=city state in greek

  • lol and in spanish is a funny way to call the policemen! :) "los polis"

  • @philphie

Since you mentioned it, polis and police both share a common root in greek.

so do the words politics & policy. They all come from the idea of the state.

  • he sounds like suburban kids with biblical names :o

  • This man is completely amazing. One day you Swedish man... XD

  • his voice sounds like scott walker, nice!

  • It's from his first album "when i said i wanted to be your dog"

  • Thanx!

  • It's on "When i said i wanted to be your dog".

  • Comment removed

  • I want to like this, but I can't answer honestly that I do. Good horns, oh well, onto the rest of the music from wonderful Sweden.

  • this looks like it was the one that aired on wnyc 2-4 yrs ago.

i think i remember a guy singing in a moving vehicle.

  • He's so dreamy.

  • i want his babies.

  • great 70's vibe. kinda reminds me of albert hammond.

  • lol @ your inability to understand a genre of music, nobody said this was better than the music you like

  • word, well said my friend

  • Firstly, learn to spell. Secondly, how is this "pretenious"?

  • i miss sweden so much every time i watch this. god.

  • In what tunnel did they film this?

  • so simple and beautifullll(:

  • HAN ÄR SÅ JÄVLA SNYGG

  • who do you think you are??

  • that's Jesselchen5594...duh

  • idiot

  • Why can't this guy write a melody that doesn't keep repeating the basic same harmony as his Nina song? It's so irritating.

  • because he is too smart for the "classic cliche" song

  • do you think it's easy to create a good music like this? i'd like to see you write one-_-"

  • i hate the intro so i never listened to the song til now and i LOVE it! He is the man.

  • He's my knight in shiny armor... so back off girls! :P

  • Oh, get over yourself.

Kinda reminiscent of Morrissey, eh? Ya know, sans the cardigan and frown.

  • If you're criticizing her for using the word shiny as opposed to shining, then you might try spelling bastardized with an A. If you're criticizing her for not using a "u" in the word "armor," you need to respect the fact that British English and American English are recognized as different languages. And while you're at it, respect the fact that the english language was brought to you by Germanic immigrants. So, ya know...tax your own tea. Hope that helps.

  • I am bemused by the inferrence that English was imported to England by the Germans. It is a development of Anglo-Saxon, with a peppering of Viking/French words, which have had an impact on the development of our language. The point I was making is, there is no excuse for sloppiness of any sort at all. Knight in shining armour, has a British cultural reference point too. Incidently, Morrissey is a Mancunian, as I am. I can translate that into Amercan English should you wish. Hope this helps.

  • I hope you're pretending to misunderstand my comment that the roots of English are German. My only point there was that language is a continuum, so it's kind of unfair to be a heckler about it.

Now, I'll be honest, I did look up the history of that phrase for the point of this discussion, but according to what I found, the first uses of it to describe someone figuratively were in America-in American English. On the other hand, Jens is wearing armor in the video, so ya got me there.

  • And I know where Morrissey is from ;)

  • 'Many a Knight in shining armour

    Shews his dauntless prowess there.'

Thomas Rodd 1812, first recorded English use of this idiom. Not a Heckler at all, just raising it as an issue and for healthy debate, and one who has a keen interest in the celebration of the rich use of English, rather than the slovenly (eg. shiny for shining) way it can develop or deteriorate. Yes Jens is wearing armour, although there we no knights in Sweden, so yet another conundrum. C'est la vie.

  • Your pretentiarossity is liike amaazingg, and who is you thinking you are?? GO FUCK A GOAT!!!!

  • Thank you so much for your erudite comments, which may I suggest, illustrate the point that I am making in a most splendid, and illuminative fashion. Thank you once again, too kind. (I thank that I shall decine your kind suggestion of having congress with a bovine)

  • Forcing a succession of semi-obscure words is not synonymous with intelligence

  • @espark1089 as proved by that sentence.

  • @espark1089

Intelligence is not synonymous with good.

  • @Karatemusen thank you....my thoughts exactly!

  • @espark1089 which words are semi-obscure to you?

  • @espark1089 "Forcing a succession of semi-obscure words is not synonymous with intelligence"

I keep on trying to work out whether this in reference to this song or perhaps an earlier comment? I've watched the video several times now and there do not seem to be any 'semi-obscure' words, unless by semi-obscure you mean 'non-monosyllabic'... I know your comment is over a year old, but if you could reply with a quote I would be grateful as this is bugging me more than it should.

  • @ErnestSpence umm it was a response to some ridiculous post from idk how far back.. just me being pissed at some random kid for being pretentious and douchey..

  • @ErnestSpence @espark1089 yeah i also want to know please.

  • FYI a goat is a member of the Caprinae family and not a Bovine - they are your heavier cloven-hoofed animal such as a cow or yak. Both families are sub-families of the Bovidae family, though.

  • Thanks for that information on Caprinae, am always willing to learn as this is the way that we grow. Thanks once again.

  • right on

  • You spelt England wrong. Messge? Wot eh hell is that eh?!

  • Sorry, I am afraid that I can make no comprehension of your missive.

  • i love music that is funny !!!!

  • where can i download this trackkkkk?

  • OMG! Im going to watch him play next week!! He's awesome. watching a couple of his videos!!

  • älska Jens Lekman

  • lol 0:29!

  • i wanna be in his custody :)

  • hm... interesting song, but his voice doesn't really match the melody

  • are you kidding me? his voice is perfect for this song.

it has humour without being too ironic like steven merritt

  • oh, come on, stephin merrit's irony is just right on! :) I just love him!

  • oh no dont get me wrong! i looooove merritt ...much more than leckman. merrits irony is genuine and so is leckmans but there is certainly aot of tonuge in cheek wink wink irony for irony's sake in a lot of bands. ive gone weary of it.

  • Can't get enough of this song.

  • kom hem baby :(

  • He's so cute :) And I get to see him on Saturday!

  • i love jens lekman.

  • oh, this man. i would like to give him a hug.

  • same here =)

  • does anyone know the name of the song that goes "my heart goes bum burum barum.." there is clapping at the end (jens lekman song)

  • it's called "a sweet summer's night on hammer hill". great tune!

  • Wygląda uroczo i ma niezły głos...

  • most new music is, i find the music in this case to be at least enjoyable.

  • I don't think so,there's subtle humour in his lyrics
