I just talked to the record company who recorded this in the studio for Lincoln guys, finally...

They told me over the phone they've contacted Cat and due to licensing issues =( will record a full version, releasing on December 22, 2012

@nickthelick Actually, this song was written as a result of Bowie going to see 2001: A Space Odyssey, which he thought was amazing. British television was just all like "Hey, that song's about space, let's use that for the moon landing coverage."

And for the record, Bowie says he was completely baked when he saw the movie, so that probably had a lot to do with it.

Cat Power (Chan Marshall) does lots of covers, and some are only 30-45 seconds long, she does a good version of Free Bird that's like that. Her cover of (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction is my favorite.

Yeah, it feels like a boneheaded move on the part of the band. Don't they agree to do these covers so that they can get exposure? I mean, I really doubt cat power was like "oh yeah, we'll just do this for fun, and maybe get a little paycheck on the side!"
