We will be teaching a 2 week aquaponics course in TX. Cost is $300 per student and covers the price to build the farm. The course will cover all aspects of aquaponics and will be a build from the ground up. biotechturetraining com we are a not for profit sustainable living group. We want everyone in the world to grow their own food. Spread the word.
What do you do during the winter? Just curious how you keep your cycle going if plant life can deal with sub freezing temperatures. Great videos. Very inspiring.
Hello,I think I have watched all your video at least twice.I have questions.I was little bits and pieces of other thing you you put in your system like, lime, seaweed extract. What does this help with. Also algae is killing me in the fishing holding tank.Should I cycle the water through a bio-filter or uv-filter first before re-entering the tank. also is there a beneficial bacteria I could use to speed the process? My lettuce in the aquaponics are not growing as fast as my hydroponics..
So what do you do when you don't have year round growing temperatures? Where I live, it can be 114F in the summer and 14F in the winter. Does it still work if you have to shut it down 4 months out of every year, or is it just like starting a new system all over again every spring?
@MoneyGCroat They are Hydroton Clay balls can be found online at a variety of places even ebay. However let me give you advice. I have the Hydroton it is expensive and when you spill it in on the ground hard to recover. Use gravel it is a lot cheaper easy to find. Rinse Rinse Rinse then get gold fish to build bacteria before planting at least a two months. It is all about the conversion of amino nitrates and nitrites.
@flyingemu27 It's a waste that all children are forced to spend 12 years sitting at desks memorizing or ignoring stuff totally irrelevant to their adult lives, many failing, when they could be allowed to learn practical life skills that would make them independent and grow viable communities and states, to rebuild a nation with abundance and jobs.
I would agree with a combination of the two. Living in an enviroment like the video(not within 4 concrete walls) and still have the education in order to evolve the intellectual of the people giving them a variaty of knowleadge so they can at least choose for them selfs. We need to get back with nature that is for sure...every time people go picnic or camping we feel pretty and livefull...that is because we belong to be with the nature...

@tucsonpersonified its cheap if you just use it in net pots. you can use half clay, and half perlite on the bottom of the pot.

Aquaponics mimics nature. It is an ECO system. It can be a simple system that will produce results in your own back yard.
Search Murray Hallam Aquaponics for more video clips.

That looks so interesting! Man, there is so much that can be accomplished by yourself, but yet there is so much to learn in order to do so.
One step at a time...
