Check out 3.40 on this video comparing the times of the building collapse! The first clock clearly starts running about 1-2 secs before the building moves... Then the second clock is 1-2 secs later. Very shoddy production by the BBC! I've timed that video several times myself and it comes in at about 4 secs. Much quicker than 5.4 secs quoted in the documentary...

Several firefighters speculated as early as 3:00 pm that the building was heavily damaged due to the fires that couldn't be fought, so much that the building was starting to lean. Firefighters basically concluded that the building was a lost cause and spread the word to media outlets.

Don't directly associate the fires temperature with the temperature of the steel. Further, the steel will soften locally and if ever there was a failure of sorts it will be buckling and bending (softened steel) in the direction of the soft area. The chances of a straight down symmetrical collapse are nil. Further, high resolution video clearly shows squibs and associated flashes from explosives. Try again.

"fireballs" are slow events, flashes were 1/30sec (one frame) and faster. A nonlinear FEA model will prove the point on collapse. We don't have one yet, but it will come.

@zoskiaist / others -- I respectfully request more info on why fire can't superheat and melt structural steel to cause the tower collapes. How could our ancestors smelt iron some 4000 years ago? Clearly melting iron alloys can be and has been done with fire, I'm sure fuelled by substances far more primitive than thousands of gallons jet fuel.

I'm not being snide, I would just like a scientific explanation I can understand.

Problem here is one of logistics and timing. How do we get fires burning uncontrolled hydrocarbons to burn in such a way that we get the observed results? WTC7 alone -with the photos that we have establishing a time line is a solid indicator of demolition. Steel heats up, looses strength gradually, then as the fire dies down (20min local avg) regains it's strength. that's why burning office towers dont behave that way
