@katrienify Because barley fields are only in France? Or grown during WWI? I think you're stretching a song with general significance to fit very specific imagery... And the video has cars in the "past" sequences of golden times.
A man who has been consistently defending the constituiton and fighting for our rights for decades. The only man willing to cut foreign aid and bring back our troops immediately. The only man who in his first year is willing to cut 1 trillion dollars to help bring down the deficit and save the country.
But he needs your help. Go out and vote for Ron Paul in the primary.
last summer i was listening to this song a ton.... i happen to get in my first car that my father bought for me (03 Crown Vic) while fooling around with the radio this song happened to be the first song i heard in the car :) so the song means even more to me now. it was weird too considering i had been killing it on repeat prior to that anyway.
@MariposaGirl1981 ... happiness & sorrow go hand in hand within romance. this music resonates in different ways to different people ... keep that in mind
Beautiful! The first time i heard this song i was pretty little, and i remember the melody made me feel warm and happy but so sad at the same time-even more so now that i know the words. I've thought about the meaning of it before, and i wonder if the end of the song isn't talking about the man's death...? I love that the song is kinda vague enough so you can interpret it how you want. Anyway, it never fails to put a smile on my face and a tear in my eye:)
wow..wow..wow...El master hacia mas de una decada..ke no escuchaba sus rolas,,pero me taen recuerdos de mis añitos jovenes...snif..snif¡¡¡snif..para el principe ke no aparece....
i agree with many of your comments about how it's like sad but happy at the same time, very emotional song for me but I don't know why. It has nothing to do with lost loved ones or anything like that, it just is. Maybe its reminder of me being little and its lyrics and just awesomely sad/happy music is it.
@zeppelinplant I agree with you. The song do sounds better when Sting sings it. I found out that Eva Cassidy's was the original Artist of that song. She was admitted to John Hopkins hospital. To my knowledge she wrote that song in the hospital where she later died November 2, 1996 at the age of 33. If anyone like they can read it on youtube. The story of Eva Cassidy. It is a very beautiful song though.
@yamahonkawazuki ... sorrow within happiness if that makes any sense to you. that's why it's special. it's one of those songs ... that when i hear it start to play in a store .. i move away from the noisy people and move to the where the sound is coming from so i can only hear it & nothing else.
I'll never grow tired of this one. Tis the closest thing to a soundtrack of my life that there is. Somehow it was appropriate when my wife and I were a young couple, appropriate for the year that we were separated, and appropriate now that we've gotten back together and continued building a life together. There is very little else that can compare with that.
I remember when this song came out. It played all the time, just before my friend was leaving for Japan in Marines. Sad, but happy times. The song stayed w.me and always takes me back to that time. Good memories w.it.
las canciones que hoy en dia se hacen famosas ya no son como estas!! increible cancion! Solo tengo 21 años pero se apreciar que esta musica era la mejor!
You know, I think this song should have been put on that one CD 'Pure Moods' because I instantly get put into a relaxing mood right from the opening chords from all of the insturments.
I do not want to overdo it in saying this, but it's true, when I listened to this song, I felt calm and peaceful, the soft tones of this song brings me like was in heaven...oh God...this is Beautiful Song !!!
@studioflip Perhaps you will get another chance to see him in the future. As for your English, no worries there, I am sure I will take shit from my fellow Yankees but sadly, very sadly undeniably your English is much better than many of the natives here in the States. I have seen much egregious, atrocious misuse of grammar and spelling in internet comments written by my fellow Americans and it is only getting worse. It is indeed a truly sad state of affairs and does make us look intelligent.
@studioflip yeah its a bitch Eh? didnt that just make you go " aww shiite. shouldnt have done that. should have held onto at least one for myself" ive been there.
@studioflip Das pech zeg.
Quite possibly one of the most charming and mesmerizing pieces ever made ... and this video captures the peacefulness and beauty of the melody. GREAT STUFF !
Just recently got back from Cyprus. The sun was setting over the sea, with the mild and calm sea breeze with fantastic colours in the sky and on the other side was the mountains. I heard this track being played from a Hotel and it was just so perfect. Also brings memories of someone I met over there... Need I say anymore?
I very like this song it is my dream to live in the fields of gold. Will you stay with me,Will you be my love among the fields of barley. We,ll forget the sun in his jealous sky as we lie in the fields of gold

I have listened to this song so many times, and everytime a tear is falling down my cheek, just can not help it,but maybe that is a good sign showing I have feelings that obvious 32 peolpe do not have...
I used to sit in the car with my father with this song on the stereo. It was one of his favourite tracks. He passed away 5 months ago at age 54. This was played at his funeral and I can't listen to this song without shedding tears.
I am having this played at my funeral. It is just such a beautiful and powerful song set in chronological order; partnership, marriage, watching your children grow up and eventual old age/passing away. Life. Sting is undoubtedly one of the best musical artists of the 20th century.
I think this song is about reincarnation, so all you out there who had it played at a funereal, remember, if it helps your grief, that your loved ones could be walking beside you now, and if not yet, you will walk again with them, in your next life.

Reminds me of a little village where the war effort closed the town and forced the evacuation of the inhabitants.
When the villagers left they left a note about being kind to this special place.
They we're never allowed to return and it sits abandoned but not forgotten.
Every year the families of the former villagers visit the site for church but they will never call it home ever again.
Sad that someplace so special is just left to fall into ruin.

Last Year,
I won four tickets to Sting in concert.
I always thought Sting and The Police were boring (Wait with thumps down).
I gave the tickets to friends to go to the concert.
A week after that i was on vacation in Berlin (A week after the concert).
In Berlin they have a MTV with older music.
This video was on...
And now after this all... I hate myself for giving those tickets away.
