  • had this done almost a year ago, but I had an Aspen implant put in.

  • I had this done over a year ago and I'm doing great now. I was able to go back to my normal life within 4 months of the surgery date. The main reason for this was I was 23 when I had it done; my age had a lot to do with it. On the other side of the spectrum, one of my co-workers who is 47 took well over a year to return to full duties since my job is very physically demanding. I will say one thing though, my sciatic nerve and surgery site hurt off and on and will probably catch up to me as I age

  • Just had this done about one year ago doing well now.. Great video!! thanks for your help! Cath

  • Most of the comments i read deal with leg pain. My pain problem is pain in my back. Ive had many MRI's and all show a disc herniation in the lumbar region. I do get some pain in the leg but its mostly isolated to the lower back which makes sitting very difficult. i have a surgery appointment in a month. Has anyone had any BACK pain and found success with surger?

  • @ApocalypticBastard8 i had this exact surgery and i got relief only temporary. not saying it wont give permanent relief to you since it is different for everyone. i suffered from severe back pain only for a year before having the surgery. everyone always talks about the leg pain but i had none. i did every single treatment under the sun and nothing really worked for me which is why they decided to go ahead and do the surgery even tho i was only 17. try traction or epidural steroid injections!

  • Does anybody know why everytime I look down my back starts to hurt?

  • im so scared. im only 15 and i have a disc protusion in this same spot L4 L5. ive been suffering with the pain down my leg for 12 months now. ive been to physio, chiropractors and many specialists and only now has my latest specialist booked an appointment for me to see a pediatric neuro surgeon. im so scared if this is what is going to happen. what will recovery be like??

  • @claire2shae9696 when i had it a few months ago it was SO EASY! the worst part for me was having a reaction to anesthesia. i threw up for a few days and was itchy but that didnt last. i had no real pain after the surgery, just tenderness and soreness. they gave me prescription pain medicine which i only needed for a week, maybe less. the only thing they say is no bending, twisting or lifting anything for 6 weeks and then you can only lift 10-20 pounds for another few months.

  • @AKsteadymobbin thanks for the feedback. i actually already had the surgery and it was really successful. i was only on pain medication for 3 days and im feeling so much better :) the surgeon was amazing and i didnt really have much of a reaction the anesthesia :)

  • @claire2shae9696 wow lucky you! i should be saying congratulations actually haha, people dont realize how painful herniated discs are. hope that you never have to deal with that again!

  • I had this same surgery 23 yrs. ago. I was also 18 yrs old. Im not sure if the procedure went exactly like this but I did have a lumbar laminectomy L4 disc. For 23 yrs.In have lived pain free. Up until now that is. I am having the exact same pain in the exact same area again after all these yrs. I will be having an MRI soon. I am in excellent heath otherwise and am 41 yrs.old. My Dr has mentioned that I may need surgery again..I will do it again and hopefully have the same results!

  • @tmcdx4 Interesting. Have you ever considered a chiropractor?

  • My mom is 38 and has 5 herniated disks.....what would you recommend?

  • @xxxsarahxxx01 A chiropractor. Your body has natural healing potency. When you are cut, the body automatically beings to heal itself and bring it back to what it was. That is what chiropractors try to do.

  • Mmmmmm his spine looks delicious

  • nice job, ill go to you if i need a disc removed...

  • I'm finally going in for this same surgery in just under two weeks. Recovery is directly related to the length of time since the injury. A word to NHS GPs - stop sending people with obvious herniation (calf and heel numbness) for Physio. The sooner the surgery takes place the better the recovery and the less it costs the NHS over time. My new doctor was shocked that my previous doctor let it go on this long. I'm suing my first doctor for negligence with the help of my new doctor.

  • my sister whos 17 has a really bad back she was supposed to have surgery it got really bad one day so she couldnt get up we had to an ambulance

  • I just had this procedure done today at 10am. Let me just tell you it's the best decision I ever made. I am up and walking since then, I lay down to rest throughout the day and the only pain I have is from the incision. I take Norco for the pain and I have only taken it once and I have to take the antibiotics and flexiril for the spasms. Other then that the only thing I got neasus from was from the anesthesia. The recovery will take about 1 month and back up and doing my normal things after 2.

  • I have had 3 of these surgerys in the last 11 years the first one was the best.

  • For those contemplating spine surgery at Cedars-Sinai in Calfornia, make certain you stay away from Dr. J. Patrick Johnson, and Dr. Mark Wolgin in Southern California. These doctor's are butchers that will perform in an antiquated manner producing worse results than when you came in. They will also lie about what went wrong in their surgical report.

  • I was bored, i was looking up this, but now, i dont think i ever will.. ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

  • I'm about to have this op in Sydney I hope it goes well from reading all your comments the symptoms are bearable with shit loads of endone !

  • @HSVVXR06 What is "endone"? I need a pain killer that isn't addictive or destructive. May God have mercy on me, I'm on oxycodone and it's killing me, but without it the pain is too much.

  • nobody wants to see the xrays we want to see the surgeory you dumb fuck.

  • i had this l4-l5 moderate size slip disc as what the doctors told me..i suffered pain for almost 3 years...i undergone medical treatment, rehabilitation, but i still have this pain even now and worst i noticed a dextroscoliosis on my body...my doctor suggested me to undergo surgery but im afraid a lot of thingking of the possibility of having not able to walk after the surgery...should i agree to undergo operation?please help me..give me an advice please!

  • I had my surgery 344 days ago. I still have nerve damage in my lower extremities. Partial paralysis, lower pain weakness, bi lateral foot drop to the right side. In my situation though I was paralyzed for 60 plus hours before surgery. Keep up the good thoughts, the body is an amazing thing. I am still on pain meds though as well. The outlook is truly unpredictable, the doctors are no more better off than chiropractors at determining human fate and condition. Take every day one at a time. Peace!.

  • I might have to have this exact surgery and don't know what to expect...I'm very nervous but if people say this helps...

  • It is interesting to see that almost all the people that have had this operation are pain free. That is the proof that it is an excellent procedure in the right hands.

  • How do you close the outer layer of the disc again?

  • How did he do in the end?

What is the result?? Could this person run, lift weights??

  • @AhmadAboulFarag You can do anything you like apart from lifting stupidly.

  • @sallywilton Ok, thanks cause I'm going through with this surgery and I don't know if there are any things I should give up after that. My Doc. isn't very clear.

  • @AhmadAboulFarag no doubt you will get physiotherapy appropriate to your condition. Good luck.

  • @AhmadAboulFarag Hey I see you are in Cairo. I am in Egypt too. Are you having the operation here?

  • @sallywilton Yes, I am in Cairo and I'm gonna go through with it here in Egypt as well but I have to wait for at least two months. Are you Egyptian?

  • @AhmadAboulFarag No I live in Luxor and am married to an Egyptian. I had my operation in the UK though. Private hospital. 2 months is not too long to wait unless of course you are in terrible pain, then it is a long time. Good luck with it all.

  • @sallywilton It's nice to have met you Sally, I am on pain killing medication most of the time, so I don't feel much pain as long as I'm laying down, three weeks have already passed so I guess I'll wait some more :), Thanks

  • @AhmadAboulFarag I found though that it doesnt always stay the same. I had several weeks of not being able to find a position lying down as well. That was terrible because I had no sleep at all. My heart goes out to you as no one realises how terrible it is unless they have had this.Good luck with everything. you wont know yourself after the op it is like a miracle and makes you appreciate every small thing you can do without pain.

  • @sallywilton I'm glad you're ok now and appreciating what you once lost... that's a blessing. I will try my best and hang in there. It's nice to know someone understands my condition and nice to know it's been a success before. Thanks Again.

  • How did he do in the end?

  • im 40 im going back for my 3er surgery after I fall and twist my back I have no feeling in my left leg hope i can feel better after my next operation

  • dang this looks like to much though does it work for everyone?

  • I'm 23 years old and I'm having this surgery in just over a week. (Ironically it's scheduled for Friday the 13th. lol). It's a little scary, but I know that it's more scary that I've had this pain for over 2 years, they don't know what caused it, and I can't do anything without pain. I'm so young! I just want my life back, want to enjoy camping and playing with my dog, and want to be able to work without pain! Anyone who has this problem for so long with no improvement should get the surgery!!

  • my dad has to go in for this.... he's 61 years old should I be worried? he's had heart problems in the past....

  • i'm male,25 years old. had disc herniation that caused sciatica. tried everything but nothing worked. went to Vietnam(my homeland) and found an excellent orthopedic hospital in ho chi minh city called Saigon Ito. Very clean hospital with excellent doctors who told me to get this simple surgery. I went through it. They put me to sleep and worked on me for 3 hours and that was it. The cost was only 1000 dollars. doctors in U.S. told me don't get it but i'm glad i did. now i'm back to normal.

  • CAN'T WAIT TO BE A SPINAL SURGEON! :D

  • Duudee this technology is sooo awesome compared to what they used to do. Just a little hole!

  • does it hurt?

  • Looks like I'm having this done in May some time unless I can get in earlier,in agony again as I type laid in bed.MRI showed a large bulge & after 6 months of no improvement enuffs enuff!!!!! Probably going to be the longest six weeks of my life but hopefully worth it!!!!!

  • @69tykes I just had this surgery less than 2 weeks ago. I had right leg pain and right foot was numb for 8 months! Right now I have no pain, can walk long distances, and my life is so much better. Recovery is easy. The only part that is a pain in the butt is waking up after the surgery.

  • i have 5 prolapsed discs would this opp work for me

  • I would strongly advice to do the op. I had this surgery done 4 weeks ago and I feel great. No leg pain, no numbness - still a bit sore, still not able to tie my shoelaces - BUT THERE IS NO PAIN. If your pain is unbearable and is not going away in 6 weeks - don't hesitate, do the surgery!

  • yes north ,He can and will if u accept him as ur savior,if u pray to Him,He did with a paralitic, with a bleeding women ,He say, come to me those on fatigue and afliction and i should give u rest...by the blood of Jesuscrist, our savior i pray to God to give u health and prosperiti, all bad things are in the past everything is made new Amén

  • @VIRGILIO753 what a crock of shit, I Used to beLIEve & pray.. I lost my Mom & Girlfriend to cancer. My daughter wants nothing to do with me..... give it up, there is no god, plain & simple. History simply repeats itself.

  • @VIRGILIO753

whoah whoah whoah don't talk about this nonesense here

Not everybody shares the same beliefs and this is a video about a back surgery go preach elsewhere plz

  • God can heal any sickness just trust and seek him...

  • @VIRGILIO753

    can god cure my AIDS?

  • @northernaids Only medicine can help, not cure. If there was a god, do you think we'd be in the shit we're in? Think about it.

  • Ken Burns effect on your face, doctor.. Is creepy as hell.

  • i went through this same surgery amazinly the next day i was walking i had l4 and l5 hernia compressing the asiatca nerve thanx god i m fully mobile whilst before my surgery i was completley disabled aswell i had a spinal decompression done amazing results i had my surgery done at nuffields house private hospital .

  • I went with back surgery. I am 25, I shouldn't have needed it. But, a typical 25 year old doesn't lift people that are in wheelchairs and such. I believe I injured my back while lifting someone or something. Things seem to be better, currently two days after surgery. Thank god

  • @Jdog5785 howre you now man? im at the door of the surgeon...

  • @polocu23 Still, better. I have little pain in my ankle. From the nerve I guess. But, it was a whole lot worse before surgery.

  • I had this surgery in Aug 2010, they removed 65% of my L5/S1 disk..and had IMMEDIATE relife...I am 38, was VERY active prior to my injury in Jan 2010, and began a walking program the day after surgery. They did not fuse or insert a pin. I feel amazing. I live in the Cleveland, OH area and had my miracle surgery at Metro Health Medical Center by Dr. Timothy Moore. AMAZING care and an amazing doctor. I am so glad that I chose the surgery instead of dealing w/awful nerve pain from my butt-leg.

  • Prior to surgery, I saw a chiropractor who said I wouldn't need surgery, he did manipulations and acupuncture, I then did PT, made it WORSE, and then had two rounds of steroid injections. The pain management doc said the steroids wouldn't work since my bulge was so large. He was right. I appreciated that my doc was conservative. Now all is well, no nerve pain, and I am almost back to life as I knew it prior to surgery. Thank God I was in shape before this all happened..made healing easier..

  • I strongly doubt whether you will reply to my comment, but anyway - is it possible to make this kind of operation and fail? I mean, is it possible that an operation will do more harm than good? I've tried all the possible ways to treat my hernias which cause sciatica, but they just don't work, so I am thinking about having an operation. But the thought that an operation can make my condition even worse just drives me crazy.

  • @antanukas yes it is possible to have surgery or surguries and fail depending on what the problem is.. usually disk hernations heal over time threw proper exercising and streching.... and physical therapy... DEPENDS ON HOW BAD THE HERNATION IS A MICRODISCETOMY IS NOT A REALLY INTENSE SURGERY ..

  • @AngeloR674

    Thanks for your response.

  • @antanukas omg i have the exact same fear, did you ever find the answer to this???

  • @antanukas is not a DR who will harm firstable you must search for the best qualified DR ask friends, if not try alternative medicine like Manipulative ostheopathic,it will help, losing weight, light exercices,,osteopathic is combine with rehab at the same time you will feel the relief rigt away,do this and you can forget about surgury for awhile, but rmember firstable you can have herniated disc, nerve impigment ,or facetory arthrosis,a DR in osteopathic will help with hernias but the A.F

  • it's blurry, you can't see anything

  • I had this surgery 18 years ago. I was 18 years old when I had this surgery. I had a ruptured disc, due to a football injury. 2 years later, I was back on the field playing college football. I still lead a very active lifestyle and I am a Police Officer. The surgery was very successful, and I have had absolutely no problems since I have had the surgery. Prior to the surgery, I could barely walk. I had sciatica and pretty much had to lay in bed all day. Not good for an 18 year old. Doing great!

  • @VTXguy2010 hey, I´m 22 and i have a similar problem, but i´m freakin out about doing this and the risks!. I´m a track runner and i´m afraid i wont be able to go back!

  • @alientoeterno I am in the same boat man.I am dead scared about having surgery in my back. I am 27 and been having this problem with my back about years now. I think I am going to have to go ahead with it. Do you know what cause your injury? I think mine was a trauma from a car accident.

  • @VTXguy2010 who did your surgery- I'm a PO -I have sciatica pain

  • Nearly 6 weeks now & no change what so ever, had two corses of physio and now been advised to give hydrotherapy a try,I'm starting to think they'll try anything before admitting that surgery is really the only opion. If & probably when the hydro doesnt work im expecting the next treatment suggested mite possibly be Voodoo or some other bizarre treatment, looks like christmas will be cancelled this year, humbug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-0))

  • sad man! get well soon

    Visit my profile and ENJOY...

  • I have now been 4 weeks since having this very same operation and I am nearly back to normal. Best of all pain free ever since having it done. There is huge propaganda to try to stop people from requesting this op as it would cost the NHS too much money to carry all the necessary ones through. That is why there are so many quacks like chiropractors making money from people pretending they can cure this condition.

  • @sallywilton

Agreed.. i lost 2 years with the NHS passing the buck.. only when i paid for private surgeons opinion did i get anywhere, about to have this op now. 2 spine surgeons on the NHS flat refused to operate, and my last repeat visit to GP she suggested it might be psychosomatic. NHS ARE NOT INTERESTED in spinal injuries. Save time and money and get a private opinion. Wish i'd know 2 years ago!

  • @kaseryn It is so wrong. People suffer so much with sciatica. I felt suicidal at times and have met others that did too. Thinking everyday would be so restricted due to this excruciating pain when you walk. Good luck with the op and I am sure you will never ever regret it.

  • @sallywilton

Too true.. i had long lauded the principles of the NHS but this experience has been a revelation in the worst possible sense. You have no life with this level of pain and debilitation and the runaround you get in public health would drive you mad if the pain and bleak prospect didn't anyway! It's outrageous really but oh well glad i got the op finally (Monday coming!!) and reading these comments i'm hopeful of success where i had been quite ambivalent before.. cheers!!

  • @sallywilton I wouldn't doubt that they can! I go to one and have seen results in the lives of MANY people just by simple adjustments and for cheaper.

  • Looks scary =( But when the pain is so bad there is no choice is there ='(

  • I'm 25 and i just had my 2nd back surgery 2 months ago. So far no good. I'm still hurting.

  • @bigboy501 sad man! get well soon

  • Glad to hear your on the mend, sounds like you've had the same symptoms as me not very nice is it?.I too am depending on the NHS to sort this out otherwise it looks like paying for it myself!!!!!! I've got to have some physio(waste of time in my opinion) before they'll do another MRI just to tell me what I already know, going to give it a few sessions then demand another scan otherwise I'll be layed on the floor eating my Crimbo dinner, all the best & Merry Christmas ;-0))

  • I've had this problem for 10 years now & put of surgery about 6 years ago,I wish I hadn't.I decided to leave it after my surgeon told me that if you leave the discs alone there was some medical evidence that the disc will repair its self, well after 10 years of pain(on & off)it hasn't & it's finally got to the point where if I'm offered the surgery again I WILL be having it,can't do much at the minute apart from lay on one side & try and keep still, enuffs enuff nurse scalpel please ;-)

  • @69tykes Yes it gets a bit better than it gets worse again. I have been through hell before having this op 2 weeks ago. 3 months on the bed, unable to walk last year, then got better then a month of excrutiating pain day and night followed by not being able to walk again. I am grateful to the excellent surgeon who has relieved this condition and carrying on the rest of my life without this horrible pain cropping up. Luckily I had private insurance otherwise I would be suffering now.

  • @69tykes how are you now man? hope good..

  • Thanx Rozza i will let you know after the surgery how i feel but tell your mom because is true i eared from many people who had back surgery in the past and told me they feel free pain after the surgery, i spoked to my doctor and told me the only way to repair the disc is the surgery and believe me i wish to have the surgery tomorrow cause the pain is so bad.

  • I have a l1 disk bad my right leg is numbnest i cant go out or even at home i dont feel my right leg from my bud to my toes with a lot pain, im schedule to have the first injection of cortisone on november set of two injections after that doctor told me there is nothing else to do and the only option is the surgery, at this time im scared cause i had many surgerys include a total shoulder replacement but i have no choice cause the pain to have one in my lower back

  • @chicoveneno1 hope you well soon..my mother has the same issue with her both right and left legs...shes very worried about the disc operation

if anyone made it plz let me know how you feel now

  • This is interesting. I have just had this operation. My disc was stuck on the nerve and had to be peeled off. It would have stayed there all my life if it hadn't been removed and it caused me agony at times. Immediately after the operation I was pain free. I would recommend this if you have this disc problem it is the only answer.

  • @sallywilton and how is your leg pain now? can you easily walk?

  • @rozzalenda123 Yes it is excellent. I am very happy about it. I can do everything I want now and the wound has not even healed completely and I have 12 weeks physio ahead of me. So its brilliant.

  • Oh man... I have a pinched nerve in my lower back and watching this just made me afraid to go to the doctors. The pain is so intense but watching this is bad too. =/

  • @dogglks My father recently recovered from a major laminectomy surgery. Much more invasive than this and involving metal braces that fuse a few vertebrae. He has had very good outcomes with greatly reduced pain. Find a good orthopedic doctor.

  • omg. this is fucking horrible..

  • If you want to be a nurse or doctor, please study this medical problem. To help you or your family problem, and other people. "Thank you" Gina Toolson!

  • I had this surgery nearly 4 years ago.. Best decision of my life. I went from not being able to walk 5 feet infront of me, to dancing all night and walking and working full time. It took me a really long time to get there, but I definately don't regret it

  • @mannapoo really i wanna get this surgery done but im afraid 2 but im tired of this pain i cannt walk more then 5 mins i cannt stand i cannt work idk man im 20 years old ..can you explain to me what they do and how bad is the pain and how long were u in the hospital for if itz not a problem thanx

  • Comment removed

  • @MrFunkyman11 1st of all i waznt talking to you i waz talking to mannapoo ok and 2nd u dad is takeing morphine im not morphine helps him alot i dont have the money to get those meds thatz y im trying to get the surgery and 3rd talk to me when you feel this kind of pain

  • Comment removed

  • @MrFunkyman11 daddy dosent have herniated discs at almost every level because if he did he wouldnt be walking dumbshit. he is on low dose morphine . due to disc degeneration and stenosis.a very mild back ailment. they give low dose morphine to all the little sissies that think their in pain. if daddy had a REAL bad back he would be on the operating table. trust me!!

  • @biglaguilar Dont be afraid. I was a bit nervous but it is very easy and feels better right away. If the pain is not that bad it may not be worth it but if it's excruciating as it was with me then it's great. Go for it.

  • Comment removed

  • I just had procedure done on the 8th. No limping when I left the recovery room. No pain except for the stiffness in area of incision. Originally said would be a 1 inch incision...I ended up getting a 5" vertical cut down the spine. Having an arthritis type pain on my left side (like something moves to far, like a vertibra is extending to far due to "something" not quite holding. I am hoping this will settle in better in the weeks to come. Walking NOW can be tricky without pain.

  • so..let's talk.....how much?

  • @casey3685 Thank you that makes me feel better :)

  • hi, to everyone :))

in this operation do they remove all the disc ??? ( all the nucleus puplosus??? and what about the annulus fibrosus) or only the part that is pinching the nerve?? does the annulus fibrosus close again after the surgery ????

  • @costasefrem I've the same questions, since my Prof. said he would operate on L3-4 & L4-5 .. I'm 23 years old lady and still afraid from doin' it .. is there any side effects from NOT doin' it? he never mentioned any disc replacement, he just mentioned that I need the surgery ! I'd appreciate it if anyone out there would help!

P.S I've a miner case of Scoliosis, since its under 10 degrees, there's no need for any surgical treatment for that. just do some spin expansion exercises! many thanks! x

  • @xo0o0ox1 PLEASE DO NOT GET A SURGERY PLEASE DONT.

YOUR YOUNG AND THOSE DISCS HAVE ABILITY TO HEAL THEMSELVES.

YOU WANT TO AVOID SURGERY ON SPINE WITH ALL COST, BECAUSE THEY

CAUSE SIDE EFFECTS AND UNDESIREABLE PAIN...

MOST OF PATIENTS SUFFERS SIDE EFFECTS AFTER THEY GOT SURGERY ON THEIR BACK

  • @rmskawk I just asked another orthopedic consultant who just advised me NOT to have the surgery, because there're unbearable side effects since I'm not like any other patient, though its mild but having scoliosis exist is kinda risky, its either:1) the scoliosis might become severe than before, or 2) there's no guarantee that the disks next to the harmed one wont get harmed too! surgery is the option for those who suffer from CONTINUOUS pain. as for me, I'll be living on pain killers! thanks man

  • The operation would probably be more entertaining for both the surgeons and the patient if no anesthesia was used.

  • Oh gosh, I almost vomited.

I really hope I don't have to have this surgery but I am in so much pain.

Does anyone know if removing the pieces of herniated disc will make you shorter?

  • @VeganBallerina probably not... unless you have to have several surgeries to fix it.

  • I've never had micro surgery but the Laminectomy I had done in 1994 was nothing short of butchery. How I wish I had known then what I know now. These procedures are only every temporary solutions. Back issues are mostly caused by muscle imbalances. Unless you address the muscle imbalance that is causing your issue the pain will again return with a vengeance.

  • My sciatic pain was relieved after I learned to relax my stomach muscles. Yes, the doctors told me I needed surgery. They scared me that if I didn't get it I would lose use of my legs blah blah blah.

Learning to relax allowed my body to heal itself.

  • @taichibailongball hey dude how did u learn to relax ur stomach muscles ??? i got a buldging disc at l5 / s1 n the specialist told me that if it dosnt seem to be getting better in 2 weeks the next step is surgery which worries me ive had the pain for 3 months now

  • @thechozen101 I studied a lot of eastern internal arts. It's basically developing a sensitivity to your body so that you feel the knots that build up and then consciously release them. Breathing is essential because improper breathing, usually brought on by poor habits and stress, create these knots and add to the stress and the body absorbs this bad energy.

Just close your eyes, take a deep breath and feel where you might be tight. Just feel it, don't resist it just let it go slowly.

  • @taichibailongball However much you relax it just isn't going to budge a bulging disc that is stuck to the sciatic nerve. The disc matter is very adhesive as you can see in the film. It is like pretending that massaging or relaxing your foot is going to get rid of a stone in your shoe. Eventually it will cause more damage. I would say that if you need this surgery you should have it if you can otherwise you could have a lifetime of pain and suffering.

  • @sallywilton Relaxing wasn't the only thing I did but one essential element. However, I feel fine now. I've taken up many eastern exercises and meditations to aid in my recovery and all seem to be helping. Lets hope the doctors are wrong, as usual, and I can find better ways to heal myself.

  • @taichibailongball The disc shrinks over time thereby relieving pain. Discs are not really related to the muscles so it would be very surprising if relaxing muscles did anything for the ruptured disc. As you can see from the film the disc has come out of the spine and that is why it needs to be removed so that it stops pressing on the nerve. The NHS is unlikely to offer this surgery other than as a last resort as it costs money.

  • @sallywilton True, but the tightening muscles will put pressure on the spine and as the spine compresses the disc can be pushed out and not be allowed to shrink back to it's normal size.

Your lack of common sense leads to me believe you work within the medical community.

  • @taichibailongball I have personally suffered severe sciatica for 15 months prior to an operation 2 weeks ago . I certainly do not lack common sense. Prior to the operation I went down the route of lots of quacks including Chiropractors and Osteopaths this was a big mistake. When I went for an MRI scan it showed a huge bulge and the specialist said there was no way that any of these guys could have shifted it anywhere.

  • @sallywilton Well, I wish more doctors were successful like this. Nearly all doctor's I've had the misfortune to meet have been the quacks. And, no, I do not live in the middle of nowhere. I've been around the "best" doctors in the best hospitals and they have all practically murdered my friends and loved ones AND got a nice check for their next vacation for their death inducing treatments.

  • @taichibailongball The surgeon I had has performed this particular operation as in the film 4000 times with complete success. I did not even need painkillers after the operation. They are not all butchers. I have nothing but praise for this man. The alternative would have been a possible lifetime of pain. Instead I am painfree with a very small wound. Was fully active after 3 days. He cant be the only good spinal surgeon in the whole world.

  • @taichibailongball The problem is so many people have a vested interest to take money and they lie. They told me that the disc had gone back into the spine, that is impossible. The only thing the disc will do is shrink. Nothing else. There is no reason why excercise or stretching should not move the disc into an even worse position. The disc does not have a brain it is just matter that is in the wrong place. I am better now thanks to surgery. I had an excellent surgeon.

  • did they put anything in to replace the disk? also do you have any thoracic surgery vids for disks?

  • @shifudan No they do not, I just had this surgery done.

  • This sounds so stupid im 19 and i had mine on the Wednesday (16th) on my lower back!! i leaned to the left a slight bit to pick something up that was short at hand and i felt like a muscle pull in the same place, im now dying with sciatic pain down my leg!! (not that i have stopped taking pain-killers the last day or two)..........does anybody think i did more damage? im just lying in bed and nothing else to do!!

  • @SamOG15 i am no doctor but i've had alot of experience with sciatic pain. alot of times you can just pull a muscle it seems and it all goes south. all of the muscles in your back work together, and if one is strained, it puts way more load on the other muscles. Stretching is the thing that saves me. Hurt vs. Harm with sciatica is hard to deal with, it hurts so bad, you think you are harming yourself. Talk to your doc to get some stretches to help loosen things up. best of luck.

  • @SamOG15 i hope you dont have to take pain killers because my dad used those for herniated discs (4 of them) and couldnt afford surgery so after god blessed him with them healing SOMEhow he got addicted to drugs like heroin and others and is now dead im 14 i am determined to become a spinal surgeon

  • @stupidbutfunnylol1 are you for real? you shouldn't be scaring patients like this if it ain't real.

  • @stupidbutfunnylol1 theres getting addicted to pain killers, and theres taking heroin, dont take this the wrong way but was he on the heroin before he had back issues.

  • I had back surgery in 2005 and it was awesome! I had a neurosurgeon and I ::knock on wood::: have been fine since.

  • Any difference between having an orthopedic surgeon versus a neursuregon?

  • Why does a person have to have a surgery for disc herniation. What happened to him?

  • @geezemycheese the disc herniates and pushes on the nerve root. this causes the nerve to "bind up" and be tight. a discectomy is performed to remove the herniated part of the disc to free up the nerve and let it move freely.

  • better dont have this kind of troubles.

i promise you people today is the day then i ...

  • Just had mine 3 days ago. Taking pain meds and still have my stitches. Now the waiting game....

  • @dizkoteck Im soon having surgery too...I hope the best for you :D

  • @2Patricia1

I hope the best for you. enjoy the vicatin while it lasts

  • @dizkoteck and now?

  • @rozzalenda123

I feel great, almost right after the surgery. (well I have to recover).

BUT make sure you take care of yourself for the coming months. I tried lifting an Ikea furniture (200 lbs) and that set me back. STUPID move.

  • bono im so so sorry <3

  • i cant watch this but GET WELL SOON BONO

  • watching this makes my back hurt:(

  • @MrArturo101

its okay you want to play with my asshole

  • I had three surgeries, L4 L5 twice, then L5 S1. Most recent was done by a neurosurgeon instead of an ortho surgeon. I'm not knocking ortho guys, but my neuro guy really seems to know his stuff better. I'm feeling better than I have in months.

  • @jettson80 very true. i originaly saw otho's and they chose not to operate, when in fact it should have been done right away to improve chances of perfect recovery. i finaly saw a Neurosurgeon and he worked magic.

  • @jettson80 i had this surgery on my l5 s1 too i also have a disc herniation on my l4 l5

  • My dad has to get this surgery soon.

He has a severe slipped disk on the L5, pressing on a lot ofthe surrounding nerves.

He can barely walk and he has gout so he experiances excruciating pain of jagged shocks throughout his whole leg.

He can't afford it though so basicLly my family that lives with him is screwed. No money yet he can barely walk let alone live with the pain.

    Fuck you governemnt.

  • @drummerGlucose its not the governments fault, they cant just hand out surgeries to everyone for free

however sounds like a worst case scenario for him and a nightmare no-one would want to deal with

  • @drummerGlucose I dont know where u live...But if u live in Chicago...Cook County Hospital is Free. Im going there and i dont pay a dime :)

I hope ur dad gets bettter...I know how this pain affects even working and daily activities :/

  • My life has been ruined since my surgery, I had a spinal fusion at the L5-S1 level in July of 2006 and it is now 4 years later and I have severe shocking pains down my legs and have lost all feeling in my left leg from my butt to my toes. I have battled social security for disability because of the debilitating pain it has caused me. When i finnaly get my disability they will owe me backpay for over 55 months so that will help but it has been a long 4 years with no income let me tell you.

  • @Goblues1980 i'm 19 and i have a ruptured disc between the L5-S1. the herniated disc is irritating the nerve in my left leg which is causing me great amounts of pain and i can barely walk. bottom of my foot is also numb. do you think the surgery would/could help me, or do you think it'll be worse? i'm scared to have the same problem that you had. not sure if we have the same situation though. all they have to do is shave the disc off my nerve.

  • @EmceeGeek Honestly I would do as much research on the doctor performing the surgery as possible.Try every method you can first such as cortisone injections therapy, electric massage, and ask the doctor what his patient failure rate is. I myself would not risk it if I were you. I know the pain can be bad but the risk of paralysys is a lot worse. Have you filed for disability yet because of back pain? you can personal message me and i will be glad to answer any questions you have.

  • @EmceeGeek omg im 21 and im soon having surgery on the back....L1 L2 L3 L4 L5...My left buttocks and leg and toes are numb and im in pain when i walk or move wrong....Im a lil scare about it...Does anyone know if it works? Would surgery truly help? Would i be able to dance like before?

  • @2Patricia1 omg. how did you cause those injuries? i've heard it really helps, long as you find a good doctor. i suggest a neurosurgeon that you can find a profile on, online. i'm very scared to have surgery but i'm going to the dr on wednesday to speak to him about it. i have many questions to ask. i'm sure you'll be able to dance, but maybe not as much? i know how won't be able to lift anything but like me, its better than being in pain. i'm so tired of this pain and numbness! i know the feeln

  • ps: my doctor was Dr, Jaques Demers @ the Charles Lemoyne Hospital in Greenfield Park, Quebec Canada. he's very well known and is one of the top neurosurgeons in Canada.

  • im 23 years old. I just had double disc operation last Monday. it went great but it was very painful when i woke up from anastetic. ive been suffering for 6 years prior to getting this done... pain in my legs is gone, and i can sleep better now. im in recovery mode. i had l4-l5 & l5-s1 operated on. if your in bad pain, i say GO FOR IT. get the surgery. dnt be nervous especialy if its only for one bad disc, im 23 and had twoo operated same time. seems to have went well

    wes

  • cost?

  • @bmbe1 free. I live in Canada. also got 3 meals a day and rehab for a little over a week in the Hospital for a total cost of.... $0.00

  • @waxmastawes Im worry about this surgery...I have L1 L2 L3 L4 L4...Should i take the surgery ? what do u recommend?

  • try Dr. Ditsworth! I had terrible pain in my lower back for years, and when I tried to treat it, but the surgery that many doctors offered me was open, which meant that I would have bone and other things taken out! I was scarred, but the pain only kept getting worse. I looked at leading providers such as LSI, who use a thick microscope. When I had surgery with Dr. Ditsworth, I just had a tiny hole and went home 2 hours after surgery! I highly recommend seeing him if you are afraid of surgery.
