  • Corny fill he made out of that.

  • @skortenmov lol ik right, but he's just showing an example for people to learn :)

  • if you want a complete lesson pay a professional drummer to help you

PS; these guy are there to help us understand and like you said demonstrate the rudiment and fills.

  • YOU SUCK! WE WANT JARED. He actually explains shit. >_>

  • OK, here's the deal: Im a drummer noob, trying to learn via instructive videos from all over youtube. I've got one thing I wanna say to every1 who has a video, or plan to make one: YOU. ARE. PLAYING. TOO. FAST. I know, I know, you guys who allready know how to play dont see it that way. But believe me, us noobs do.

  • @stormshadow2k Understand your disapointment but, all you have to know is that no videos are going to help you out...I mean there are a lot of good stuff and a lot of great drummers to look at, but if you want to learn properly all you have to do is to get a good teacher, good books spend good money and time and on top of all be really patient! ;) Keep it up dude, and welcome home!

  • @stormshadow2k Anyway this guy and all the crew is just great, check out Vans Cool Drumming Tips too it can help!

  • that sounds cool but i wanted to learn how to play it and not this demonstration xD

  • 0:39 lol that beat's funny hehe...awesome vid tho!

  • What kind of heads are on the tom's? Evans what? They sound great.

  • You haven´t explained that the second hit comes from the bounce on the drum, you don´t do that with your hands. If you really strike the 2nd one it´s no benefit compared to single strokes. Enter "Drum Lesson 3 (Double Stroke Rolls)"

into Youtube and click on the fisrt video. This guy is a bit funny but explains it in great detail

  • the dude looks all pissed off like he has to do this for probation or something and he plays all fast hahaha he just looks so pissed off!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That was cool. You just made me want to practice them now. I'm lost using a metranome to pratice this. HELP!!!!!

  • not even remotely close to what you would call a lesson. this a demonstration. no wonder its free, they didnt teach anything whatsoever

  • If you watch the video at the actual site it gives you sheet music and instructions.

(They also teach you how to read notation if you didn't know how to already)

  • @Dreammotive someone hasn't gone to their website

  • @Dreammotive how else would you teach a double stroke?

  • @420jaymac Show the mechanics of each part of the hand in motion, one piece at a time.

  • @Dreammotive watch hand techqniue videos. this video explains what a double stroke is and examples on how to use it

  • He plays an accent on the right hand every time he hits with it.

  • good skill

  • do you bounce the sticks or do you do the pitch and catch thing.. whats the right technique?

  • both are good but i prefer catching

  • I would bounce them bro. i took learned both way but i did the bouncing first it help out with all other rudiments too. I think you mean pitch catch like the moller method that tough to master trust me. it more like a push pull techinque an works better with faster tempos so your wrists dont get lazy how i think of it. but the moller is like a double stroke if you wana think of it like that. you push the stick that one stroke an when u pull its a 2nd stroke think of it like that. Hope this help

  • I'd like to see you do better.

  • that was cool

  • I wish this guy would add a 4th section on his video for rolls / fills: Playing em reeeeaally slow. Like at 0:51 I have a hard time keeping up

  • Reply to "stormshadow2k"

    Drums are:

Low Tom, High Tom, Snare, High Tom, Mid. Tom, High Tom, *Snare*

All done in doubles - Highs are always on your left hand and the *snare* is a single accent at the end to finish. Hope that helps you :o)

Unless you are just saying he plays them too fast! XD

  • I'm just working on my doubles and the problem with this lesson is it's ment for the beginner and the double is more complex than just fast double bounces.

What he failed to show is you have to start very slow using your wrists and fingers to get two seperate nice even double strokes without using the rebound and then gradually speed up. It's that transition point where you go from seperate strokes to using the rebound that's the hard part.

  • The best way to learn doubles and I found this worked for me and my lil neice. You can start of slow but if you want to try faster, after the first stroke lossen your fingers up just enough to where it feels like your sticks might fall but they wont if you do it right and never try to force it either or you'll end up with a sprang wrist.

    Hope this helps someone

  • double stroke roll is not easy. took me long to learn fast.

  • u need to play slower

  • Awesome fill!

  • more slow is better= ="

  • quite funky

  • What kind of drum set is this

  • I believe people on youtube have been saying its a Yamaha Stage Custom Advantage Drum Set with Sabian HHX symbols (know this from obviously seeing in the video). Could be wrong bout drums, but looks like it.

  • i dont get it

  • Double stroke roll is very easy, but doing it RIGHT.. ie, consistently, so it sounds fluid -- can be pretty hard. :)

  • Actually double stroke roll is veeeery very easy.

  • the fisrt roll he did sounded like the beggining of nirvana's breed

  • i agree

  • He's a very straightforward man.

  • i love the double stroke roll whats with the stuff that you people say its not comfusing at all

  • Hey, if there any begginers out there and want speed, you can build your speed up buy trying to go fast on a snare, or practice hitting ur sticks on a bed since theres no bounce, and your wrists pick up stronger

  • i do that. its great really works

  • why does he do left hand accents at the start? That just confuses the youngins

  • i'm officially confuse lol

  • accents is teh bad, this guy makes the n00bs all screwed up so dey is cant do its! 0_o

  • i have been playing drums for only 7 months

  • Cool Double Stroke Roll.

  • that snares sonuds awfuly sexy

  • @XpdpXdrummerX45 of course it does it evans

  • thats a cool fill, sounds like the x fill

  • damn thats hards. Im a beginner.

How do you get it going so fast?

  • try just moving your wrist up and down, not your arm or forearm

  • Loosen the wrists, and what the other guy said, Move the wrist not the arm. It will just come to you in time, just stay with it.

  • This is really helpfull. Great post. On a side note, has anyone ever told you you resemble Kevin Spacey?

  • damn double strokes are hard to do really fast

  • slow the fills down so we can follow!

  • Excellent! Very good example to a double strok fill!

  • Good technique. Great sounding drums!
