  • It's weird how it gives that 60s look on modern footage.

  • @TVperson1

Yeah, it's cool how you can get different looks with modern stocks!

  • @DonFitoProductions What did it cost to buy the film and have it developed and transfered?

  • I'm having my footage transferred at Larsen Services out of Utah. Frame by frame HD sniper pro to a portable hard drive 24fps @. 14 cents a foot, clean and prep no charge, reformat hard drive 20.00 and 10.00 flat fee USPS. Total was 44.00 for two rolls of color negative. These guys do a great job. You'll see my footage in a few weeks. For color balance just put six frames of a persons face.

  • Where did you get the focus test chart? You can't find one these days. That or a color bar chart either? Curious. Lab says they need color bars if they are going to transfer film without color correction. Any truth to that?

  • @MREVANURY

My DP brought the chart with him. Search online for lens focus charts. Filmtools also sells charts.

I've used 3 labs in the past to do film transfers and none has asked for bars or charts when doing a one-light transfer. Cheers.

  • how loud is the Beaulieu 4008. could you shoot scenes with dialogue and record sound or does the cam make too much noise?

where did you get the film processed and transfered?

  • It's loud enough that you'll hear the camera in interiors. CineLab did the processing & transfer.

Hi, I have a 4008ZM4. I made a DIY blimp barney out of 1/4" leather, 1/2 inch sound-proofing syro-foam and a layer of thin lead lined the entire barney. It cut down on the Dbs by at least half and made outdoor shooting a breeze. The trick is really in the microphone. It must be a uni-directional like a Seinheiser. You'll pay a good penny for one but you can stand directly behind it while it's pointing the opposite direction and talk. You won't hear a thing on the recorder.

Hi,..Another trick you can do to record dialogue with a 4008 is have the camera set up as far away as you can from the subject and zoom in for what seems like a close shot. I shot a scene through a sheet of glass and it worked great. Also. in post you can eliminate any soundtrack from a picture with no dialogue. Hence, you simply turn the sound of the running camera off. The key is a shotgun mic. We recorded a small family in the park and the cars passing by were unheard.

  • Nice work Don!!

  • Thanks, will post more samples soon
