Tonight we did 5 attempts with our pala tank instead of our usual bear (stam stacking)

I am the holy pally assigned to him and I'm having so much trouble he's 391 but Zon'ozz hits him like a truck even at the beginning.

Am I missing something or prot palas are pretty bad this patch ?

We have no problem surviving the first black phase. Healing setup is Druid/Pala/Shammy. On the first black phase we use Tranq, along with maybe aura mastery and prot pally divine guardian. We seem to manage still fine without the aura mastery and save that for the second black phase, but without the tranq in second black phase it seems really too intense to get through, can you guys offer any advice on how to deal with the secon black phase in terms of survivability? Cheers.

@mechahalcon the damage increases with the number of adds remaining. do you kill all of them? if not, perhaps you should) secondly, for our group one tranquil is more than enough for the first phase. we have chosen to stand around the big claw at the beginning of black phases and to kill tentacles from there - therefore spirit link works for us as well.

@dancemusiconly Yes we kill all the adds. That's not a problem, but it's because the group is split up. We have range taking care of eyes on one side whilst the melee work on the other side, likewise the range kill the flails on the ones side, melee the other then move to their respected eyes and finally move to claw once they're done with eyes. This isn't the problem, the problem is we don't have any decent enough raid wide cd's in second black phase. tranq is still on cd.

@mechahalcon with the same healer setup master aura+spirit link + a tank cd does the job in our case + people should save themselves (cloak heal stones...). basically, you need to survive while dps kill the first two tentacles - it lowers the damage your raid receives. btw, we made a small trick when we lacked raid wide cd's on another boss. our OT druid was in his cat-speck and he equiped 4 peices of his tanking gear. when we knew we need a cd soon, he shapeshifted to a bear and gave that cd.

Im a little confused, I think i heard something about a debuff that you will get, that you have to run out of the raid for, for it to fall off and then run back in. Does this debuff happen during a random point in the raid?

@Mike190 when the boss is active it gives a debuff - you should run out of the raid - wait for a dispell - return. it will knock you back and will also knock back any person standing next to you (~10 yards range)

Hi guys, we're progressing on this fight with 5% debuff. How can we effectively heal the fight? we die pretty much every black phase...kill teh flails near the claw and then the eyes then just go one direction?

3 healers, use 1 CD per Black phase. Flails > Eyes > Claw. Split DPS accordingly. Spot heal as well as you can. Quicker the adds die, easier it is to heal.

@FatbossTV Cheers, it's basically what we figured out, just not sure how to split, go from furthest to closest? We have 3 melee, arms war, rogue and ret paladin, hunter, mage, spriest. We haven't cleared first black, but working on it, killed reg this lockout trying hagara and ultrax.

With 3 melee its kinda painful to heal as they have to obviously be in melee range of the tentacles. Have 1 healer responsible for all of them and the other 2 healers manage the rest of the group. We essentially break up into 3 teams, if you picture the tentacles from bottom, left to top we have 3 ranged cover bot, 1 left (with rogue on boss/claw) and 2 top and position healers near the claw so we have ranged on everyone. We're forced to move sometimes for range but not much.

@Whytetree1 wehave a similar setup. here's how we handle the black phase:

1. we gather around the big claw.

2. one range dps with the best burst (arc mage in our setup) kills one tentacle and then switches to the eye.

3. a hunter and spriest kill another tentacle and switch to another farther eye.

Important: we don't go to the melee range of the tentacle - a waste of time and hard to heal.

4. we sign 1 melee per eye which is behind the claw.

5. the claw dies from the splash dmg

Hey guys, we're having trouble with Zon'ozz heroic. We're having trouble with the ball bounces, all of a sudden it just seems to start going crooked. We use a strat where 8 people stack, and a ranged just 7ish yards out of the stacked group and bounce it to the tank, who is also 7 yards on the other side of the tank.

Some attempts the ball will go straight, and just suddenly start going crooked. Can't seem to find much info on the internet about it either. Thanks in advance!

On occasion we had this problem but all we did is just reposition every time it goes off at an angle. We found soaking as one group as overkill and far to much movement. 2 groups, a melee (4 people) and ranged group (5 people) with healer spread between both groups should cover it. If the ball goes off in an unexpected direction then the ranged group should be the people to run after it as a group. If the healers are struggling with this tactic then you should replace them.

During the black phase, which raid cooldowns do you pop in which order? My guild is 3/8H and Zon'ozz just seems to be our road block at the moment, and I'm getting really frustrated with it.

Hmm from what i can see the adds should spawn in the same place every time, we setup marks at the outermost eyes as a reference point because its easy to get disoriented when the whole room goes black.

What worked well for us was to have the melee (minus the combat rogue, he's on the claw/boss) go one side take out a flail then start on the outermost eye (one of the flails spawns quite close to the eye furthest clockwise so have the melee start here) the ranged start the other side.

My problem is that this didn't really feel like a guide. I mean this entirely constructively.

It feels like you read a written guide off of icy veins while you had your recorded kill playing in the background. I didn't get the feeling like each phase was properly explained with clear video of pertinent information during the explanation. This might just be your 'style' of making a guide, but I hope you consider my input and potentially make your future guides differently.

At 5 stacks it's unlikely you'll have the damage to beat the enrage. Killing eyes first means you actually have to heal for more as the debuff is more damage than the eye beams. As for DPS/HPS check out Worldoflogs(dot)com - that'll give you the best idea.

Did u have problems with bouncing the ball, so the boss got 7 stacks of the debuff each time it hit? We can only bounce it so he gets 5 stacks, so we have problems hit the enrage timer. We need to get better geared healers? Or do u have any advice?
