I'm going to be purchasing this kit soon and recording with Garageband on my Imac. Is it fairly straight forward as it would seem or are there any tips for me???
There is absolutely no latency to speak of....even with the (most likely) half assed way I ran the audio.
USB midi from the DTX to the mac. Then I ran the headphone out from the mac to the audio input on the DTX. From there, I ran from the headphone to the mic input on the mac.
I did this because I couldn't figure out how to get the sounds from the software into ivideo.
If you're looking for information on how to set up cymbal chokes, I can tell you that I found the info @ the toontrack forum. The setup is a bit involved, and I still haven't figured out how to record chokes in protools. Chokes register in playing, but don't pick up through the recording. I suspect it's something that needs adjustment on the pt side.
I see...toontrack forum hm? I guess I'll try looking for it. Whoa~ That seems to be a downer..(.__.) Can't choke on recording?..D;...well..i'll see what I can do...thnx again! ^^
From what I've read, it's a midi issue w/in protools. I think pt has to be told to accept 'aftertouch' information before it even recognizes it. I'm sure I'll figure it out once I find the time to actually sit down and study.
Issue within pro tools? Ahaha..It's a good thing I use sonar 8.:) Hope it won't have the same experience with pro tools when I try it. Btw, I only found one topic with one specific explanation but it didn't involve any yamaha product. :(
Another question I would like to ask is how were u able to make the choke sound in this vid? Recording? Erm..can't think..since u said it only register in playing and not in recording. You're welcome btw! You're seriously better than me..ahaha! Keep it up bro!xD
I was able to use the choke function for this vid because I was using the stand-alone "toontrack solo" software. The sound of the kit is actual audio from the computer, to the brain, back into the computer. It's midi within protools that's causing the issue. I can hear the chokes when I'm tracking, but they don't happen in playback.
Can you just post how to pull it off here instead of others going all the way there please? I'm also experiencing the same problem. Just please share us on HOW you did it
Were you able to fix the choking issue within Protools?

Funny story...
I sold the DTX last year. So the short answer is NO, but I'm sure I could've figured something out! :p

Hi.

Hopefully I'll find a better solution.

I see. Well, that's a nice solution already. But what happen at 1:13? It seems it doesn't choke properly

@ransisua
I hit the cymbal as I was releasing. Probably fixable with a setting adjustment.

Wow..great job..xD!
I'm loving the fact that u actually choked it...:)
I'm having a hard time looking for some proper information on to do it. Care to share to me on how you pulled it off..:)? Thnx in advance...^^
