  • Wow....this is powerful.

  • Why is it someone like this guy isn't running for president??

  • he's so on....

  • Day 3: Just 3 days after this amendment was pass to put on the ballot, a young man was beaten by 3 men ages18-21 while they called him fagg@t. Charges are pending.

Lord, please forgive this legislature for inflicting this on our communities. I hope we can endure the 18 month and survive.

  • How is it that the Republicans are all against "Big Government" but they want the Government to say who you can and cannot marry. What hypocrits.

  • To all politicians: Please stay out of my bedroom and I will gladly stay out of yours!!

  • John Marty is the ultimate representation. I proudly caucused for John Marty for Governor.

"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." Mahatma Gandhi

  • you are so right!!!! wish everyone thought your way!!!!

  • Religion is the root of all evil. Religion is about assuming you're speaking for God Himself and therefore have the Divine right to dictate to others what they can, and cannot, do. Religion is anti-freedom..it's fascism.

  • Its not about discriminating against homosexuals or" voting on other people's marriages" the republicans, conservatives and most americans frankly just are not comfortable changing definition of marriage, that's all it really is.

  • Equal rights under the law... period!

  • I'll remember his name for future elections! Inspiring words.

  • I refuse to believe that God created me, only to damn me to hell. How cruel would God have to be?

...And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

  • @neenerpuss Believe whatever you want but the reality is much darker than you'd like to think.

  • @rep5281 I believe in a loving God. I believe in peace. I believe in charity. The only darkness comes from bigotry and ignorance.

    Jesus wept.....

  • @neenerpuss God is love but He's also judgement. I know from experience. Burying your head in the sand will not change His nature.

  • @rep5281 Then YOU need to leave the judging to him. It is not your place. There are over 1500 species of animals with same sex pair bonds. It is not a moral issue. It is an issue of ignorance. It is natural, because it occurs in nature and is morally indifferent. I may not be a majority but the fact that it is a predictable percentage means that it is normal in that it happens 5%-10% of the time.

I refuse to believe that God created me this way...only to send me to hell. That would be cruel.

  • @neenerpuss And where do you see judgement in my comment?

  • I am so glad to hear someone else say exactly what I've been saying for years! How does it effect others if a gay couple gets married. I've been married to my husband for 20 years, my mother-in-law would have voted no to our marriage, good thing she wasn't allowed a vote!

  • I had just about forgotten that America could make me feel this proud. Keep it up, good sir. We're not out of the darkness just yet. unfortunately

  • John Marty is a great man. A decade and a half ago he should have been Governor, and we'd be in a different and better place now.

  • John Marty is the moral voice of the legislature

  • The legal status of marriage exists only to standardize property and inheritance rights. Race, religion, and gender ideally have no legal bearing on that.

  • What part of separation of church and state dont the christians get yet.

  • Enough trash. This amendment will not create a job, will not help the budget shortfall, and it will do nothing to make Minnesota better. In fact, if Minnesota votes in favor of this, it means Minnesota has become a State of homophobic cowards.

  • Thank you Senator John Marty. Religious groups have no business pushing legislation based on their beliefs. In America we believe in the separation of church and state. John Quincy Adams is buried in the First Unitarian Society in Quincy, Massachusetts and Thomas Jefferson wrote his own version of the Bible, removing some Christian passages he found offensive.

Let the State define marriage for all and churches bless or not bless relationships how ever they wish.

  • Exactly my point Senator Marty - government needs to treat people equal and stay separate from religion!

  • Even if you dont want gay marrages. The constitution is not their to discriminate against people in society. There should be a No vote on this issue.

  • Another example of Republicans, who complain about "liberal" judges making law and not adhering to the Constitution, laboring to change the Constitution for their own petty prejudices and bigotries.

  • Right on Senator Marty.

  • Government needs to be out of Unions, whatever you want to call them.
