Thank you. I carefully machine Western Red Cedar down to 1.5" x 1.5" parts using a wide belt sander and 100 grit paper. Then I dado them half the thickness and 1.5" wide. My CNC router cut mortises into the 8x8 posts. We assemble the lattice panels with epoxy in the joints - no fasteners except in the ovals where I used some teak dowels. I then epoxy the lattice panels into the posts again with no fasteners. The lattice is structural with almost perfect joints.
Your pergola looks amazing!! Would like to know size of wood used for the lattice panels with the ovals, how were they attached to the 8x8's??
