  • AndrewwithanE>>she cant squeeze her legs together for faster revolution because Asians tend to have bow legs

  • Oh. My. God. Amazing!

  • what the hell? this doesn't even make sense haha. she jumps like her entire height.

  • Still the best ladies jumper of all time!

  • the height!!!!

  • Wow. Just amazing. O_o

  • no matter how many times i repeat this video i m always horrified how she can jump

like this!! This is amazing!! its more than amazing but i cant seem to find

    fitting word for this..!!!!!

  • her 3A is just simply amazing!!!! luv her <3

  • such a nice H position!

  • I just peed myself, holy cow! she be good at what she does...

  • great height

  • Omg i just cant stop seeing her 3A !! It's so high!!!!!!!!

  • Tonya lands her more clean.

  • how does she jump like that??? she could probably land a quad if she clicked those boots together!

  • Yes!!! This is real 3A !!! Mao Asada's 3A is just cheating and fake !!! Go Ito !!!!

  • @jennifercho1357

Why do you say that? where's your proof? I love Ito-san, but I respect mao-chan too. saying that her triple axel is a fake pains me. where's your triple axel? i will tip my hat to you if you show me either proof of her so called "fake axel" or your own 3A. i bet you can't even do a proper waltz jump. you really disgust me.

  • @2thinkitive Hey there~!!! I'm not a figure skater, just one of the figure fan. You mean that if i couldn't do 3A and then do not blame any cheating jumper & fake jump, right?? Hey~ what's wrong with you?? I can't do 3A by myself but i can judge which one is better or not. Ito's 3A is amazing but Mao's 3A is not good for me. Because Mao's 3A has too much over-rotated and under-rotated.That is my opinion. Why do i have to prove it to you??

  • @2thinkitive You are very silly and stupid. VERY RUDE as well. ;-( BTW, Who is Ito-san and Mao-chan?? I know Ito Midori and Mao Asada though.

  • i hate my axel! how does she do it?!?!?!? LOL im a roller-skater though and im only up to double axel O_o

  • @EdwardCullenFreak999

LOL! i think roller-skating and figure skating are a bit different. seems to me that roller-skating is much harder.

  • @2thinkitive hahaha yeah it is a bit :P

  • OMG how does she manage it wiv that position!!!

  • She is one of the worlds most highest jumpers of all time! i always wanted to see her do the triple axel in slow motion! Thanks for uploading this video!

  • forward crossover to tripple axil and lands in a sweet forward stroke

  • Hark!!!

  • i dont think ive ever seen anyone match the height of her jumps its simply amazing

  • better than mao but mao is great

  • Midori Ito's Triple Axel is LEGEND! Much better than Mao's triple axels which were downgraded in 2010 worlds (2 out of 3)

  • Yukari and Mao, and a lot of men could only DREAM to be able to do a triple axel like that.

  • wow

  • phenom

  • woah its like gravity doesnt even exist on ice

  • that was good

im not surprised she can do a triple axel

    have u seen her doubles?

i wonder if she could do a quad.........

  • amazing... she doesn't even squeeze her legs together all the way... wonder what would happen if she did.... QUAD?!?! lol

  • i have to squeez my leqs all the way to get a single axel

  • @AndewithanE

funny, I had the same thought lol... if she squeezed her legs together she could def do a quad!!! She def has plenty of height for a quad axel!!!!

  • @AndewithanE

    Probably! Haha!

  • @AndewithanE She's fall because she'd be off-axis. :P

  • At 0:04 she is at Max height wow!!

  • Baha!

  • ohmygod, she gets great height. a friend of mine told me about her triple axels and boy am i impressed.

  • She has always been one of my favorite skaters. She was athletic when everyone else was going artsy. And her jumps....WOW...I've never seen a woman get as much height as she does.

  • I'm so jealous! LoL!

  • SHE'S LIKE FLYING!!

  • Incredible. To this day, I'm still waiting for any female skater to do a triple axel in the level of Ito and Harding. I think it will be difficult since those two were very special and once-in-a-blue-moon.

  • Midori was 26 yrs old when this triple axel was filmed. Very recently she announced to return to the ice show and throw the triple axel if her condition permits........

  • thats crazy height! so amazing! the best triple axel done by anyone ever! ( including mens )

  • look at the high!!

  • DUDE!!!!!! Shes good! :O Damn, I wish i could jump as good as her!!!!

  • that looked like a quad. go back and count the rotations. i think that there are 4 and a half, not 3 and a half.

  • nope its a triple axel-if you look the jump starts and then there are 3.5 rotations-a triple axel

  • Tonya landed hers better but Midori may get better height.

  • How can she jump that friken high! its amazing! wow

  • Far out thats amazing!!!!

  • no one has ever landed anything harder than a triple axel, a quad toe or quad salchow...

Some have attempted a quad lutz, flip, loop!

  • Tonya Harding attemped a quad loop. There's the Texaco commercial where she presumbly showed it, but coming from Tonya I wouldn't be surprised if she talked big about that as well.

  • it is because there is no such thing as a Quad axle i know that because i asked my coach when i was doing my doubles!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wat ever that was amazing though!!!!

  • yeah kurt browning landed a quad in competition, the first guy ever (i might be wrong)

  • Still gives me goosebumps! She's so open in the air, if she ever fixed that slight flaw in her jumping, she could have landed quads. The height she gets is just amazing!!!

  • この時、伊藤みどりは26歳です。

  • It's not a quad, remember, it's three and A HALF, not just three, and it enters from the front, to land backward, you have to complete another half rotation. =]

  • Wow!

  • Dang! and she still has space between her legs. that's impressive.

  • If Midori Ito had completed a quad axel, she would be the first woman in world's history to complete a quad axel.

  • waddleduckie1,

She WAS the first woman in world's history to ever land the triple axle.

  • I know that, but no women have yet to complete a quad axel, vaunghnlandry

  • Tonya Harding was.

  • I thought a quad axel hadn't ever been landed, well in competition anyway?

  • I'm pretty sure a quad axel has not been landed in competition yet by a man OR a woman.

  • The height is just utterly amazing and blows away Yukari Nakano and Mao Asada's 3-Axels.

  • curiously this was in 1995 jap nationals when the japanese federation made her comeback to competition so after 1992 olympics to this its incredible she continued having that high!

  • the high of that jump is amazing!, it looks almost like a quad

  • Midori landed her first triple at the age of 8and was landing triple triple combinations at 12. Definitely the best female skater of all time, and 50 years ahead of her time.

  • I totally agree

  • midori landed her first triple at the age of 8, and by the age of 12 she was landing triple-triples... so far there is no female skater that can be compared to her on the techincal elements...

  • Mao Asada has landed her first triple just as early, at 9 years old she landed 3lz, at 12 she was landing 3a, two different kinds of 3-3 and 3-3-3, and her other technical elements (spins, spirals) were much better.

We should not really compare the past skaters to the current ones, though. The rules keep changing and skater pay attention to different aspects of their skating.

  • true, i do think skaters from the past shouldnt be compared to the skaters from now, and i even said it in another video (a guy was comparing Plushenko to Browning, whih shouldnt be done)... but i think here... the situation is a bit different b/c still not even mao asada (who is an AMAZING skater) has accomplished in my opinion what Midori did, she does do triple axels, but Midori had the power to do one with a wrapped leg, jump and rotate with a wrapped leg is extremly difficult...

  • now to that i want to add (and please dont take this wrong, i dont mean to insult or anything like that), but Mao flutzes instead of doing Lutz, something that Midori didn't do, Midori had also landed different triple-triple combinations (including a triple axel-triple toe loop combination) and Mao's triple-triple-triple combination was bedly cheated, true she was very young, but Midori had also landed quads at practice, now add to that the fact that Midori was ahead of her time.

  • she was doing quads in practice when men had just started landing quads in competition, she was very ahead of her time, she could compete with men, i mean that's how amazing she was on the techincal elements... now we dont even see that many triple axels, yukari nakano, mao asada, kimmie meissner, and i think that's it... midori was doing that when no women was even landing triple-triples... she actually landed the first triple-triple...

  • she's definitely th most amazing jumper ever... i mean when she does the triple axel she doesnt need to put those feet together to get a tighter position... she wraps her leg in the triple axel =, how many people can wrapthir legs in the tripla axel... that is strength, and powwer on the jumps... definitely the best technical figure skater

  • Her height is absolutely amazing!

  • What do you mean she popped it ? That normally means a skater changed their mind at take off or half way through and doesn't complete the jump. She never popped it. Perhaps it's your terminology ?

  • she didnt pop it popping it is when u go into a jump and dont finish it. like if u go into a double axel and make it a single...thats popping a jump.

  • PERFECT!

  • holy jesus.... are you sure she doesnt have a harnest? loll; jp. but she can jump!!! dannng

  • i think if Midori had continued skating , she would have started on a quad axel. She's a perfect candidate for that.

  • how high do you think that is? it almost looks like 3 feet off the ground

  • clean edge! and 14!!!! wow

  • there was never and will never be another jumper like her. HUGE jumps. wow.

  • WOW!!! I can only do a single!

  • perfect...she does it better than men today,..

  • her hair is craazzyy!!!

  • My gosh, her jump is so high! o__O

Midori is amazing, end of story.

  • cool

  • QUEEN

  • it will sound weird but...

    this girl has balls.

  • Well, you dont have to say it like that. Yes, though, she does have guts.

  • I don't like her left leg position in the air. Otherwise: She has incredible hight!

  • When she was performing the triple axel very consistently back in 90s, I did not actually get impressed much because her jump was just my standard. Later on when I see some skaters attempt the same (but not really the same) movement, I just feel I totally missed something very valuable.

  • I dont understand what you are saying, are you saying you are wrong to not be impressed or it is just not impressive?

Either way, this is an amazing triple axel.

  • They should use this video when needing to demonstrate an example of the Perfect triple axel! It's rare to see one this perfect.

  • Ito, if she continued her career could have tried to strive for a quad axel if she wanted to.

  • ES un cuádruple...

  • parece cuadruple!

  • I think this girl has a really good chance to win the Olympic Gold in High Jump. Amazing height for a tiny lady.

  • isnt that mao asadas dress too? haha and daaaang she could do a quad axel if she tried. no joke.

  • Wooh... That wasn't even that tight! Even the men couldn't do it like that.

  • that hight! no wonder she can complete a triple!

  • i dont understand how you can possibly spin around in the air like that. amazing!

  • WOW. The height she gets is amazing.

  • was this at 1996 Japanese Nationals? too bad she couldnt do that at 96 Worlds a few months later...

  • from waht i know midori did not compeate in the 96 season she when professional after 91 i belive

  • oh no, she definitely competed at the 1996 Worlds... she wasn't feeling too well, unfortunately :(

  • you could see her biiiig smile when she landed it.

  • Brilliant

  • and this was done when she returned to competition after being on hiatus as a competitive skater...

  • she soooo awesome!!!

  • Cool!!!!!!!!!xD

  • i could sooo do that.

    on a trampoline...

    in space

  • hahaha :)

  • absolotly amazing!
