But they failed. At least the Nets won championship titles--2!--while in our great Empire State. :-)) It will happen here in BK. I don't think the championship celebrations will be as wild as on October 4th, 1955, though.

Prediction: I say we will have an NBA title in BK by 2016 (that'd be the 2015-2016 NBA season). Yup. I think we will hoist that kinda dummy-looking gold-plated NBA title trophy on Brooklyn soil in 2016 and we will go nuts (not Philly cheese-whiz nuts, though!) on Fulton Mall (glittery Fulton Mall!), Fulton Street, and Broadway. ...the 1970's (and also played some games in NYC (even Brooklyn) as the N.J. Americans in the late-60's/early-70's), they were obviously in the ABA, not the NBA. So they didn't play regular season games against the Knickerbockers. But they may have played some games against each other in the preseason back then. So, next year in the Fall of 2012, it will be the first time that we will have an inner-city (same city) professional basketball rivalry. Yeah...those game are gonna be nuts, man...

But I'm sure it'll be better than the recent Subway Series "rivalry" that is Yanks vs. Metropolitans. Because we OWN it! :-)

@dm319756 - Butler might be a really good fit, Dallas made a lot of adjustments and some players stepped up in his absence, so he might not fit into Dallas' scheme anymore. I could Chandler coming back to N.Y. to 'stick it" to the Knicks as payback for the Melo trade. I really cannot see Brown leaving L.A., I see them grooming him to carry the torch (so to speak) as Kobe starts to decline in his career. I kinda wish Chris Dougal-Roberts was still with the Nets!

Kinda pay homage to the old ABA NY franchise and the great Brooklyn Dodgers of the late-40's/1950's at the same time (and if we do get a 3rd uniform, the jersey (NOT the Garden state! :-)) better be BK-Dodger Blue with a very close resemblance to the old "Brooklyn" script in white--and, even though it may be against NBA uniform regulations, the small number on front of that 3rd jersey has to be red. Similar to Denver's 3rd navy jersey). The uniform will be retooled, though.
