Historically, according to NSDAP record,(all I have to work with) he is named as a hero of the putsch, killed in action against communist fighters. But, your recollection is as correct as mine, it was a different world, I'm working from NSDAP Record as The Fuhrer would have expected.

Actually, Horst Wessel wasn't killed during the Putsch. He was viciously murdered some time later by Communists in his Berlin apartment.

It's unfortunate that the Lied der Deutschen is often shown in conjunction with images of Nazi Germany. The anthem in its entirety is as honourable as the Nazis were despicable.
The words 'Deutschland über alles' were not minted to mean teutonic dominance just as little as 'God save the Queen' is not intended to mean that He should save her in preference to the Kaiser.
That is assuming that God gives a shit one way or the other. ;)

Nazism must be killed: but nationalism issn't always bad. I can somewhere understand the German feelings after WW1. Versailles wassn't really the finest treaty was it? I would feel full of hate. What Hitler did was terrible, and i'm glad he is killed together with the Third Reich, but nationalism is a good thing.
