Zappos new sexist ads which use naked women to "sell clothes" is NOT my idea of "great customer service," Tony. You lost me as a customer because I won't buy products from companies that objectify and devalue women.
I recently sold half of my Amazon stocks, I plan to sell the remaining half later this year. This decision is due to the following specifics 1. The secretive and corrupt culture at Amazon, 2. the heavy-handed culture or work environment Jeff bozos has created. If you will he has created a chimera. This tradition coupled with a heavy-handed, enigmatic culture of mistreating employees is a recipe for disaster.
I ordered a pair of fallen shoes from zappos, and they accidentaly canceled my order, so they refunded my money and sent me a pair the shoes I wanted FREE via next day air. They even enrolled me into the VIP program. WOW!
Anytime your a Manager because that's what a CEO really is, you MUST have a likable personality. When you have the Power to fire people you have to remember that your comments, tone, jokes, and overall personality is being observed carefully for any idiot-remarks or attitude.
Zappos is definitely a WOW experience! I LOVE that I can do a search for like a red pair of low heeled leather flats in size 7 and have a huge selection. Come to think of it, I found out about Twitter from Zappos CEOs. Loic, run your company like Zappos and watch success happen!
always love listening to Tony. Makes me question the validity of my darwinistic tendencies. Such an open (transparent) approach to business (starting with involvement not just "treatment" of employees) is so energizing! Great job to both on the interview.
Nice interview...I loved the informality and the openness of the setting and the one-on-one feeling. I've been a Zappos customer for many years, and although the 'corporate culture' speak makes me a little uneasy, having seen some of the company videos I'm impressed with the level of employee satisfaction and camaraderie. I'm looking forward to the new clothing lines (and hoping for lots of nice plus size choices), and hoping you all keep your sense of fun and creativity.
Great interview. Mind boggling that a billion dollar corporation can commit to core values and truly cares about their customers and does go the extra mile. Zappos really walks the talk. Continued success ;)
