Almost the same picks with the exception of Sakurai/High. As for the Overeem/Duffee fight IMO it's just for the entertaiment value of it, and getting a fight for Alistair on such short notice so they wouldn't have to remove him from the event. Good video as usual.

their track records vs like styles (JZ & Gil) don't look good for Josh. & despite the injury Kawajiri's comin off of, the Josh that fought Gil the 1st time is gone, his knees that is, along w/ where his head's at considering he's been talking career options post retirement. Sounds like hes lookin for some fun w/ a shootout & if it leads to 1 more title shot then so be it. He picked the wrong guy imo, he won't be joining the short list of those who've outgunned The Crusher.

@idz135 kawajiri doenst have gil gas tank, gil's speed, gil's technical standup so whether gil can beat punk isnt that relevent similar style perhaps but at this point a better version of that style also kawajiri will brawl and exchange in the pocket, he doesn't have wrestler mind set at times also punk did beat JZ so i dont see that even being a factor really

guess it was a coincidence that the result befit how the previous fights went , eh?

ex. JZ led the grappling vs Josh Thomson - Kawajiri dominated that w/ JZ Gil did the same vs Josh (#2) - Kawajiri matched Gil to say the least in their fight

I do agree Gil has a better gastank, There are multiple, differing scenario examples throughout their careers. & I will be mindful of potentially pigeon-holeing fighters stylewise and using mma math.

@idz135 it was a close fight pick wise no matter how you sliced it really, i was disappointed with the standing gameplan of thompson, i thought he would be more elusive, play the angles better and avoid some takedowns which didn't pan out

In his post-int he said he didnt know why he couldnt do just as you described. I think that is his ouside game tho, he threw the same type of techniques against Gil (1) but Gil wasn't looking for clinch tkdwns.

I maintain that he wasnt gonna stop the grappling. U disagree w/ an assertion that Thomson's done? I think he peaked vs Gil (1) after that it was: multiple injury postponements, tryin to brawl w/ Gil, tryin to sneak leg wrap vs JZ, plus all the questionable future talk.

@idz135 hes definitely going downhill but i dont think hes quite done, i mean he is losing to top 10 opponents and struggling with solid fighters till he starts losing fights that he better win (ie the equivalent of Gomi losing to Golyaev) hes not fully done

duffees whole career fights is half of overeems losses. which is nuts, like over 40 fights vs 6-7 fights. huge experience difficientcys. i really hope duffee pulls the big upset, but i dont think it wont happen.
