Soviets would have got in even if they didn't think the flanks.

  • Good thing Hitler blundered as much as he did.... saved a longer war and more lost lives by his incompetence

  • paulus should of disobeyed hitlers orders. If 6.armee could of broken out it could still be in a position to retake stalingrad.

  • @xn117 the germans were idiots for thinning the flanks around Stalingrad. if they had a proper defense, the russians wouldnt have broken through. they were excellent soldiers and had talented tacticians, but did not understand the importance of beefiness. when the americans or soviets attacked they made sure to have the proper numbers. the allies never mounted offensives on a shoestring budget.

  • spare me with your history-lessons! all, please!

  • Paulus started to get air supply but Ivan was atacking the airports too. Smith second to Paulus was the Nazi fanatic. Later Hitler send Manstein to support the 6th army

  • paulus was suppose to break out and then face AH later.

  • No he wasn't. He was ordered to stay and fight to the last man. The same as Rommel was ordered to stay at El-Alamein. The difference is that Rommel did what he knew was militarily best, and withdrew, calling it "Backwards fighting" to avoid the word retreat, while Paulus was too scared to disobey Hitler, so he ordered 6th Army to stay, even though he knew the plans for air-supply were complete fantasy. They stayed & died.

Stalingrad was the beginning of the end for Nazi Germany.

  • @Palfium66

Your last Sentence isnt right. Fieldmarshall Erich von Manstein would have won the "Operation Zitadelle" if Hitler had let him handle it himself.

The same counts for "Unternehmen Wintergewitter". Sorry for my english, greetings from Germany :)

  • @Palfium66 Rommel tenía cojones, Paulus no.

  • @Palfium66

Paulus also refused to break out with the help mannstein proposed.

Not only that but he surrendered and collaborated with the russians afterwards.

    He was a traitor !

  • der film gefällt mir jetz schon 100 mal besser als der neue. ich weiß zwar nicht wie es wirklich war, aber irgendwie wirkt dieser hier authentischer...
