  • @v8gtx440 ive never seen a c6 z06 put down anything under 430rwhp(mustang dyno). Most of them put down between 440-450rwhp in a dynojet while some even reach 460. I doubt 17% is lost in the drivetrain when going through a t56. Chevy is known for underrating hp.

The head engineer himself slipped and said the GTR used cut slicks...the fleet cars were juiced...if you read reviews of the mighty GTR now most magazines are saying, well the car is fast but just not that fun to drive...duh. Chevy would run the track for a few hours, set a time and move on...Nissan tuned fiddled, faked, and repeated until they got a time...stock for stock the Z06 pisses on the GTR and you know it

Laguna Seca, Willow Springs, etc. Nissan didn't fake those times because it was tested by the magazines. And have you even driven a GT-R? I have and its a blast to drive and I'm saying that confidently as a C5 Z06 owner whos driven a C6 Z06 and been in a ZR1

  • Thats garbage the best I have ever seen for a Z06 was inbetween a 3.6 and 3.7 and the best for a ZR1 was a 3.3. Its better if your numbers are conservative and still beat the GT-R than if you start trying to pull numbers that may or may not be legit. At least then they know you aren't trying to bullshit.

    BTW, 60-0mph:

    GT-R: 103 ft

    Z06: 104 ft

    ZR1: 97ft

    GT-R's skidpad does suck though. I will give you that.

    We can all agree that the ZR1 is faster in a straight line than the GT-R. We can then assume the ZR1 CRIPPLED the GT-R on the huge straight away...

    If the GT-R was crippled (probably by a few seconds) and only "lost" by 0:00:03 seconds.. i have to assume that it made up some time in the corners, therefore it handles better.

  • Or you could take all of the other variables into account and realize that the humidity and windspeed were different each day and that Suzuki is a hell of a lot better driver than the Engineer who ran the ZR1. You could also stop judging the two cars on a lap on the stupid Nurburgring, especially since there were so many variables that it is impossible to compare effectively. Look for a good test and then talk. I hate to bring it up but Top Gear would be one option if they ever run the Vette.

  • There is no way a Z06 does a 3.4 0-60. Thats one of the recorder ZR1 time with the other good one being 3.3. Z06 is 3.7 which is still pretty good. I don't like heavy cars so I will side with the Corvette but I think the R-35 does edge the Z06 out by a bit. It still loses to the ZR1 thought and nobody cares about the spec-v because it will be 1.5x the ZR1's cost.

    Any Corvette is basically all about HP

    The GT-R is mostly about technology

    If the ZR1 had the same technology as the GT-R it would most likely run 7:20

    Same can be said if the GT-R had the same power to weight ratio as the ZR1

    Technology makes you go around a track faster. This is a proven fact. Obviously HP matters too but better technology can make up for a lot of HP.

    The GT-R V can and will beat the ZR1 at the ring because of it's vastly superior technology.

  • Obviously I will come across as a Vette fan but I like and respect the GT-R a lot too. My response to your technology argument would be to say that if you look up the cars braking and slalom stats I think you will find that a ZR1 handles and brakes slightly better than a GT-R and a Z06 does worse than a GT-R by a small amount. How is the better technology helping? To me it seems to just make up for the GT-R's added weight and lower power rather than jump it far ahead of the pack.

    wether it's drag races, rolling races, grip, braking, acceleration, etc.... the GT-R wins most of them. All for about the same price.

    The build quality is far superior on the GT-R as well.

    It comes down to RWD in a straight line vs AWD and everything else.... i'll take the AWD personally.

    Plus I think the GT-R looks better. Corvette drivers always seem to be old farts with grey hair anyways.

This is what they are paying for now. The economic situation isn't helping either. Ford has done the exact same thing.

  • First, I clearly said that GM spends about 35 grand per 'Vette. I didn't say that they made a profit on individual Corvettes. I actually clearly said the direct opposite. I meant all Corvettes per quarter or year. This is what I meant by saying that was because that is what GM does. They haven't consistently ripped people off for all this time, they build a reputation by making good cars and then they say, "If we cut corners on little things, we might turn more of a profit."

    Further, the z06 with those mods and tune should be at 490rwhp.. this one is at 442rwhp which is maybe 10-15 over stock... it needs a tune, really bad especially with the heat that car is running in.

    Imagine the ass whooping if infact that Z06 was tuned properly and at 490rwhp+? Get off the GTR bandwagon, its badass but not godly.

  • the skylines heritage? what in Japanese make only GT500 races? the corvette has successfully ran top spots in the GT-1 class for years in LeMans the Corvettes C6Rs finished 1 and 2 in multiple occasions, the ZR-1 is in the top 3 at nurburgring. what has the Skyline done off the streets? its a great car don't get me wrong at all but Skylines are not better then Corvettes but to each there own.

  • check the times again. over rated? there was nothing in the Z06s price range that you could even mention against a Z06 untill the GTR which is a computer on wheels, i rather drive a car then a computer but that's me, and you could mod a Z06 to death without having to over trow granny computers that control everything the car does unlike the GTR. and there not expensive to mod, if you can afford a Z06 you can afford to mod it.

  • all you need to do to the GTR is swap out the turbos for bigger ones and you will have unlimited HP gain depending on the turbo you choose

    you need to buy a whole twin turbo or supercharge pkg for the corvette to be able to compete with the GTR

    you are going to spend upwards of $10,000 to turbo or supercharge a vette correctly through lingenfelter

    you can spend $7000 to get the 1000HP turbo upgrade for the GTR and then you are done

    would cost you over $30000 to get those numbers on a vette

  • Ok I know this is older but you have lost your mind. For one the GT-R never beat the ZR1 on the ring. The GT-R is one of the most expensive cars to mod right now due to Japan's regulations that were put on it.  The LS series engines are one of the cheapest engines to mod. The GT-R starts at 82K for the price. They are all being sold for around 90K new. The ZR1 can be found for it's MSRP price for around 105K. That is nowere close to half the price. You sir are an idiot.

  • Thats not true because my buddyh just bought an R35 GT-R last month for $85K. He paid cash and since hes in the military he didn't have to pay taxes either.

  • That's where you are wrong. Just cause you are in the military doesn't mean that you don't pay taxes. I have been in for 8 1/2 years and that is total BS. The only thing you don't pay taxes on is when you go overseas to warzones and some states don't require you to pay state taxes. Look at the website again. That is where I got the numbers. nissans msrp and chevy's msrp. and then autotrader is where I got approx how much they are being sold at that time.

  • I didn't pay state taxes when I got both of my cars. I saved 3 grand doing that. I don't know where you are from but around TN you don't have to pay state taxes when purchasing a car if you are stationed at FT Campbell, KY. And the MSRP is 82,000 which is what my buddy paid for his GT-R. He walked out the door with it for 85 actually. And mods aren't that much more expensive. He got a Cobb AP for 600 bucks which is about the same price it cost for my Mazda.

The Z is @ a disadvantage if anything. 3yrs older 07 Z's just have dampening adjustments 2 the rear. 4 tires for traction vs 2. Human dependency 4 launches, not computer driven perfectly consistent launches. Standard 6spd vsF1= perfectly consistent shifts. Drag R. always comes down 2 wut,driver right? Nissan simply replaced driver w/ a computer! no more driver errorr ;-)

  • yes there are many 6 cyls that are fast the previous m3 bmws nismo 350z g37 etcthe vette is light enough in fact it used to be powered by a 350hp before. and the c5 isnt far off from the c6 (i mean the ls2 not the ls3) my car weighs near 3 tons(its a tank haha) but im powered by a 6.1 hemi V8 and i still hit 176mph stock( cat back exhaust and thats it for it now) my hp/pound ration isnt too good but it still pulls and if my tank can do it then a car as small as a gtr or vette should have no prob

  • stock means how it comes straight from the manufacturer. no add-ons. get it straight.

  • the vette IS stock, the GTR is NOT stock, it has a turbo charger on it, cars like the gt500 and zr1 corvette evo sti etc are not stock, they have been modded with some sort of forced induction there for not making it stock. a naturally aspirated 4 cyl 6 cyl or 8cyl car, thats stock. get your facts together.

  • Your a funny guy. Nurburgring times say it all when it comes to the track. There's no other track more grueling and challenging and the GTR clearly beat it out. The only reason it wasn't able to catch the ZR-1 is because of the brute power the ZR-1 puts out. That's just from a carlover's prospective. But in my own opinion I would never own an American car ever again. Especially not with them going near bankcruptcy who knows how they are trying to save money next.
