@1203125 Actually it is realize not realise and the American population has not butchered the English language it was up to Merriam Webster who did so when American schools were just starting out (I believe some time when America was still in colonies) and he did so to make our country have as little to do with Britain as possible. He wanted us to be unique. So no, America was not stupid to change English, or "butcher", it is simply a different language in America.
