I tribute this selection and album to my brother David (RIP). This album and Les McCann always reminds me of my brother for introducing me to jazz when I was JR High School. David you have always been my hero! Until we meet again.
@vscol couldn't have said it better... i've been a jazz snob :-) for 45 years... ever since my friend and myself found his older brothers jazz albums when i was 15.... the first jazz artist i ever sat down and listened to was pharoah sanders.... and i was hooked.... but this piece is my alltime fav jazz piece... by far.... every time i listen to it... it's like the first time... and the journey it takes one on is amazing....
There was a group of rythem players, Idris - drums, Grover - sax, Bob James - piano, Steve Gadd - Bass, etc who were very productive during the late 60 & through the 70'. The played on each other's albums; producing 50-60 records. I have all of them. This was a very prolific period for this group.
Simply sublime......

I like it better than Grover's version too, but Grover plays on this one as well. Just a different arrangement. What a great tune!
