I am 20yo and although I work in ministry full time...I've been having a hard time finding some "extra" time for the Lord. The personal time that is soo needed. I thank God for His patience with me...:) Thank you again, God spoke to me and I want to give Him more than what I have so far.

BUT, I do need to unplug from THIS media, I am also reading "Toward a Renewed Mind" by Richard F. Gottier. as for Beccagirl27, TV essentially isn't bad. It is the things that we watch in TV that could be bad. You might think, "I'll just watch good things." but you will eventually start going back to your old habits. The reason Mark said that was to eliminate the possibility of you getting increasing temptation.
I don't mean to offend you in anyway, just to correct your misunderstanding. God Bless!
Also, some thoughts on fasting. Mark mentioned fasting from watching TV.
John Piper wrote 'A Hunger for God' about the biblical nature & process of fasting & prayer. The idea is to give up something that is intended as *good* for us. If we are saying TV is bad, therefore needing a break from it, then does that qualify as 'fasting'? That would be like saying, "I'm fasting from burglary for a week. Recognize my offer to do without, oh God! Honor me for this sacrifice with favor." :)
To spiritbyrd1: Stop telling yourself you don't have enough strength when you are filled with Christ who does have more than enough! His rich resource of strength is ready to be tapped into. You only defeat yourself by allowing the devil to convince you that you can't do it.

This is a great challenge. I myself have issues over-watching tv. It's really an issue for me especially in the sense that I spend hours a day watching various tv shows and none reading the Word of God! Shame on me...
But man, fasting Media is one of the hardest things ever. All the contact I have to my friends and family at the moment is through internet. But still, I really have to cut down all that media stuff.

I accept the challenge :) I need to turn off media anyway, in order to focus better on my Bible school. I am going Monday nights, working day shifts (finally!) and have this desire to get away with God. I will do my best to keep the tv off and the internet (other than our time together,of course). The [BIG] TV set broke Thanksgiving weekend TWO years ago. Turns out the set's too old to get the parts. So we stopped the cable instead of fixing/replacing the set.
We have other sets in the house with DVD players, but now we plan family movie time! Or game time, or whatever...
But the coolest part is that my kids have discovered they enjoy reading more than they ever enjoyed watching cable programming on the thought vacuum. I'm thinkin' God stepped in where we weren't strong enough. 8-)
I would LOVE to be strong enough to do this, but I know I'm not. I just have enough strength around me to do this on my own, but GOOD LUCK to everyone who takes this challenge!

If you really want to do it, then do it. This will challenge everyone. Don't just brush this off because you think your not strong enough. Maybe this challenge is what you need to help you grow in your faith in God. Did you ever consider that?

I can limit my interaction considerbly by only emailing for social gatherings and Christian friends... hmm... still scary LOL
