  • 140 people need to go be stupid somewhere else.

  • the chinese guy is probably speaking chimp language.

  • They don't need to plan long ahead. I'm sure they could if they had to

  • Is that an edible sticker?

  • lmao wow so many of you don't see why people disliked this video XD It's because they thought the video was actually about a "human ape". It's what I thought at firrst, then I realized this is more badass :o So that's the main reason why these videos have bee disliked. :3

  • I can only question the rationality of anyone who would dislike these videos. The videos are not government funded, they have no ulterior motive; they are simply educational. To say that you dislike education is to say that you fear progress and innovation and anyone who fears progress and innovation is a detriment to society.

  • haha want to hear a funny story? i used to go to church but then i heard something weird. they said that scientist have proven evolution wrong. so i did more research and thats when i discovered that the church is a bussiness. that was a long time ago. man a lot of people dont realize how much religion can brainwash the public!

  • I dislike the video is because of how stupid our scientist and researcher actually are.

The comparison are totally unfair to the apes! We humans have evolve trough time and evolution.

  • 6:15

    "Mom, can I have some?"

    "No..."

  • im christian, and i dont see how this come into direct conflict with the Bible. the Bible can or can not be taken literally, even Jesus teach lessons by metaphors, not stories that are meant to be taken literally. its just some idiots, who have inflexible minds love to take things literally and create tension with science-lovers like me.

  • I'm honored to be an ape! :D lol I hope Caesar will realize it's already a planet of apes! lol

  • Only thing I learnt from looking at this and reading some of the comments is that apes sure are smarter than lots of humans.

  • @Allupinu different races of humans are also similar but different, but we are all part of the human race. We all started off as black Africans and our bodies and features adapted through time but we share common ancestors.

Its the same with apes and humans, we didn't come from apes but at some point far back in time we shared a common ancestor, if you keep going back all mammals shared ancestors which branched off into all the animals we see today.

  • @BDill03 yes different races are merely subspecies of homo sapien. They are the same thing, just slightly different in appearance. ^.^

  • I think its all stupid... With all animals they will do what they have to do to survive!! These chimps just are a closer build to humans.. Bunch of idiots the evolution theory is all bullshit!! Why they still stuck as chimps?? We are similar but different...

  • @Allupinu303 I'm guessing your a Creationsist.

  • @Allupinu303 Europeans settled in America and became Americans. By your logic why are Europeans still in existence? Europeans are similar but different (I as a European am enlightened and you as a creationist American are not) Evolution in action baby!

  • why would a chimp need to plan long term? when we was back in caves, i bet we only planned short-term, we didnt just plan long-term overnight it took thousand of years apes need aswell.

  • Koko the gorilla! most intelligent ape!!

  • The raise of the planet of the apes brought me here !!! Thanks to the video we came from the great apes

  • God and Jesus are lie !!!! We r not created by god !!! We r apes

  • UNDERSTAND we do NOT came from chimps or big apes, we ALL come from ALLIENS & CHUK NORRIS. thank you!!!

  • Who votes this down? It's not like the narrator is just going "WE'RE ALL MONKEYS, GOD IS A LIE, OMG!!!" You're actually sitting here and watching apes perform these tasks, and yet you're still treating it like some sort of skewed propaganda. What do you have against apes? What's threatening about the idea that animals can be smart just like we can? If you don't believe in evolution and think humans are top dog by default, it's not like you have to worry that chimps will someday overthrow us.

  • I have to ask myself - how on earth could so many downrate this documentary? I mean, are there really that many people who feel genuinely threatened by our ape cousins? If that is the case that is really quite pathetic.

  • @TheStigma rise of the apes mannnn

  • @TheStigma i think its because they believe in such thing as god

  • @TheStigma

this is such a great documentary, I've wondered why people are downrating it as well...

If anything, it makes me love and appreciate apes more...

  • @TheStigma it's the religious nuts...

  • @TheStigma yup, theres still a lot of sheeple out there that would rather believe in a being that came down from nowhere and waved his little magic wand and created everything.

  • @TheStigma Creationists most likely.

  • There seems to be a lot of religious bashing here, and all because one guy, who was almost certainly trolling, made a few comments. Seriously, people, your generalizations that all Christians are backwards, mouth-breathing morons afraid of knowledge is no better then all scientists who disproved certain "facts" in the bible being cast as heretics. In fact, it's worse, at least they weren't being hypocrites about hating people who make vast and erroneous generalizations.

  • the amount of premeditation that orangutan used was amazing

  • The difference between us and them, is that when they discover a tool, they gladly let the others use it too, and they all benefit.

We fucking mass produce them, brand the ones who didn't think of it first mentally retarded and them make them work for us in order to obtain the tools.

Just because we're more intelligent than others, or other species, doesn't mean we have to exploit them for everything they have for our gain.

You didn't create yourself, remember that.

  • Religious people give the impression that chimps evolved from us :S

  • Wait, why would they need to plan ahead a long period of time?

  • Evolution has to do with the change of species over time; we didn't come from apes/chimps but just share a common ancestor.

I fail to see the point of arguing online with a complete stranger.

  • @Nessalovee26 Nice. Also, I am tired of hearing the same arguments. Believers will not listen to Athiest and vice versa, it is all the same, everytime.

  • @alifaraz2193 This comment was made a over year ago when there were visible stars as a rating system. At the time, all of The Human Ape videos had 1 star. It was obvious that this well made documentary was so offensive to Christians that they were all voting 1 star and it was a knee-jerk comment to how ridiculous it is that evangelical American Christians are so offended by a well made documentary that challenges their beliefs they would all vote it down to give it 1 star. Scared of science...

  • @johntetzel: evangelicals will be responsible for bringing western society back into the Dark Ages.

  • @johntetzel punctuation? makes it a lot easier to read. but yeah, i totaly agree. christians fear knowledge because it might challenge their belief in god and a heaven. these people are afraid that if there's no heaven, then their existance is meaningless and that when they die, it's the end. having to face death scares the living shit out of people.

  • power. because as you and i know. God, whatever it may be, is not a man with a white beard, hes something out mind cannot comprehend. So i need you to understand that if someone is catholic or christian it does not mean they are moronic idiots who cannot be intrigued or see whats right in front of them. Those people who you refer too or just simply called "idiots"

  • so basically, The only thing more advanced between our two species, which should be considered one, is our communication.

  • Yes. Clearly my comment (that somehow became highly rated) was made in the heat of anger, and was directed towards knuckle dragging fundamentalist evangelicals that make their kids say the Christian Pledge of Allegiance every morning and have the Christian flag in their homes and refuse them to watch The Goonies or go to public schools, and think Jesus rode on dinosaurs or that carbon dating is simply "God testing our faith."

  • @johntetzel John you have to understand that the people who you are talking about arnt not catholic or christian they are extremists. I was raised catholic and i find this ten part video very very interesting and amazing. But in no way does it bring god into the subject. I agree that religious organizations are at times corrupt. but at the same time neglecting to believe there is a higher power is just as ignorant as stating there isnt. We as human beings cannot comprehend if there is a higher

  • @CKapps

people lust for power uses religion making it corrupt....but accually the bible is a big book full of guidelines, which are good, but some people can get brainwashed, believing in those people who will give them strength.which is accualy nonsense since the bible was written in non-fiction.

  • @Flacksh0t corruption is not limited to religion

  • @UniteForgetLeftRight No it's not but it is one of the greatest examples of corruption! Corruption of the mind, society and the emotions of others. Atheism is a non-prophet system!

  • @Flacksh0t so the stuff in the Bible about killing disobedient kids is okay? You believe in stoning women accused of rape?

  • @Flacksh0t That the bible provides morals is just bullshit. First of all, the Bible provides RULES, that's not morals. Morals is something you do because you feel that it's right or wrong. The ten commandment for example is a set of rules, followed by religious people in fear of going to hell. That's called consequence ethics, not morals. I hate when the moral card is used in this debate. Also, the Bible's "guidelines" promotes slavery, degradation of women, killing homosexuals & disobedient kids

  • @sh0werp0wer you're very ignorant.. :P

The bibles storys about degrading women, killing Homos, etc etc. Are stories written by acient christians, and in these storys they USUALLY place a moral, or a plot.. It's not just that all christians support killing homos.. It's just one did, and he got it published.

What people forgot to realize is that the bible wasn't written by jesus himself. It was written by his followers long after he died. So he had no say in what went in there.

  • omg thats amazing how she kept the tool!!

  • It is such a false debate. Even Pope Benedict XVI said the debate raging in some countries — particularly the United States and his native Germany — between creationism and evolution was an “absurdity,” saying that evolution can coexist with faith.

  • When the orangutan makes her tool into a shiv, she'll be human.

  • Chimps are even smarter than Creationists.

  • @bigboy45454545 much smarter!

  • Chimps don't ask "Why?". I think that is the main difference.

  • "Creating a profusion of local customs and rituals. The traditions in one part of the world, are distinct from those in another. The way we eat our food, what clothes we wear, how we greet people, which god we worship, are all determined by where we grew up."

  • Someday Mrs Orangutan will use that tool to bust outta there!!!!!

  • The orangutan's thinking, "I'm not letting these human bastards take this!" 1:16

  • @cstrife234 I totally agree

  • I wonder if how we view the level of intelligence and progression in apes is how extra terrestrials view the level of intelligence and progression in human beings.

  • @Aldenif well, first we'd have to establish that there are indeed extraterrestrials who have somehow mastered the ability to travel many light years and observe us while avoiding detection.

  • I think this is misleading. The only reason they don't plan for the long term, is because it's not necessary. Humans are taught to plan for the long term, through their parents and school. If you taught a ape to do the same thing, it would.

  • The african girl works hard and gets a sticker.....the chimp does the same and gets food.....how unfair the world is!!

  • Only Difference : humans use Politics(Long term Planning) while Apes are learning.

  • Great video! So much info...not repetitive...

  • 5:49 an extremely long way of saying "Monkey see Monkey do"

  • I would like to argue. For example, people who have parents who drink and smoke, and have friends who do so, regularly are more likely to do so, for obvious reasons. People mimic. Now we all know these are destructive behaviors. But these people are told this is destructive and unhealthy and are more likely to do it daily like their parents, and more influentially by their friends. But we know it can destroy our lives and kill us, so what's the relation? Aside from the physical aspects.

  • Why should we begin in the first place, knowing it will kill us? Is it because we learn from those closest to us, even though underneath it will kill us? I have memories of my parents as a child, telling me that smoking will kill me, and here they are to this day still smoking. And as I got older, about 13 or 14, all my friends smoked. So I began. Now here I am, 21 years old, wanting to quit smoking, it's extremely difficult, because I started about the time of my friends, and my parents smoked.

  • I wonder if the planning ahead limit of 14 hours (in apes) is due to the day night cycle and the monotony of the daily life in ape life versus human life.

  • Wrong information at 6:00

chimps do teach actively their young:

    /watch?v=AElmAJH2G00

  • incorrect our understanding of gravity is based on the general theory of relativity.

  • @miles9538

Your wrong and right. Gravity is a fundamental part of the universe. We knew it existed far before Einstein. The Theory of Relativity just described it more accurately.

  • no thats wrong gravity is a law hence the LAW of Gravity if you drop something it will fall

  • why can't i climb stuff like that...

  • LOL At 6m34s in this segment, humans are given a check mark for possessing 'many traditions' while the chimps or apes are given a check mark for possessing only 'few tradtitions.' WTF?

There are at least 6-billion human beings in existence as compared with a worldwide population of maybe, maybe 10-million chimps and apes.

Perhaps this astounding difference in population has something to do with the discrepancy observed by these film makers?

Let's face it. Human beings are a little slow.

  • you shouldn't be judging the religious people just like that... Alot of Christians believe that we evolved from the apes, and that the bible shouldn't be read litterly

  • I will add my voice to that, because that's the kind of Christian I was and the kind of Christians I hung out with. Not all of them are literalists, and not all of them feel threatened by knowledge.

  • Comment removed

  • Religious people - do they get you all together at church each week to select all of the videos for which you need to select 1 star? Seriously, get a life. This is just information. We know you all hate learning, as the intellectuals are the first you kill during your revolutions, and you love to burn books. Keep it up. Keep your divisive warmongering up and blow us all to hell, you stupid fucking idiots. I would welcome a civil war with you religious psychos. Go talk to your imaginary friends.

  • Its funny how the religious people use science to try and supress science.

Without us 'thinkers' there would be no inventions or discoveries and religious people would literally forever be just cavemen.

Or atleast until their brains fully evolved up to regular people's standards.

  • umm.. i beg to differ. There have been many many great scientists who were Christian as well.

Just one example, Isaac Newton was Christian. If you read his philosophical papers, everything he did was inspired by the search of God. And there are several more religious people who changed the world of science: Gregor Mendel, Leibniz, and Rene Descartes, to name a few.

A lot of scientists are Christians and are not afraid of knowledge. So don't generalize us into one bubble.

  • You must realise that in Isaac Newton's days, the church was still supressing science.

At the time, there was no Big Bang Theory, and no accepted alternative to what the bible taught, and practicing science that went against the teachings was considered herecy, being an Atheist in this time would have gotten you killed.

  • that's why i chose people with personal philosophical writings showing pursuit for God (ok, Descartes might not be the best example. he suggests no-God at some points lol) Gregor Mendel, father of genetics, was a priest. He didnt have to choose that profession. There are many more ex. in the modern era: Georges Lemaître, Stanley Jaki, Julius Nieuwland, many professors in Notre Dame University..

I understand your criticisms but i ask that you not stereotype us as all idiots. Hear some of us out.

  • I'm not saying that these men were forced into believing in god, but at the time, it's how they were raised. I was fortunate enough to be bought up in a family that didn't care either way, so I made my own decision, and did not have it made for me by my family/society.

I'm just saying that had Isaac been bought up in an enviroment where he would not have had his beliefs forced upon him by his culture as he grew up that theres a 'chance' that he might not have been such a devout christian.

  • Perhaps I should have specifically mentioned creationists and other young earth believers rather then all religious folk, the ones who can't accept evolution as a fact are the ones who would downrate this video.

  • Evolution is a scientific theory. There is a big difference between a theory and a scientific theory, technically gravity is still a scientific theory, in the EXACT same way that evolution is, you can try jumping off a cliff if you don't accept that scientific theory either. It means that until evidence is proved that the theory is wrong, it is accepted as complete truth. Know your stuff :)

  • No evidence for evolution? I'm sorry but your posts just lost all credibility.

Do yourself a favor and read a book that isn't the bible some time.

  • Ok so your either lying, brainwashed, in denial or you don't understand what evidence is.

Seriously man, google "Evidence for evolution" or something, not on youtube because fan video's tend to be unrelyable or possibly innacurate. Hard evidence is EVERYWHERE, only a couple clicks away. :P

And yes, to darwin it was a well educated theory, it wasn't concrete in his time, but it has long since been proven and isn't debated at all in the scientific community.

  • seriously i read a book on him..

  • @brianneruedy14 dont jump

  • @brianneruedy14

What about transitional fossils? The similarities in DNA? Observed instances of speciation? ETC.

  • brianneruedy14, your parents need to cut down your computer using allowance and if you don't have any, shame on your parents.

  • ya i'm most likely older than you.. i don't live at home.. i can't believe all of the people who keep trying, or waste their time on trying to prove a point on you tube... who cares.. you keep saying things that i commented on like a month ago.. let it go man.. you see it your way i see it mine..

  • you are right. maybe i should not comment about the ignorance that i see. maybe i should just leave some people in the darkness and let the light not shine on them. yes, you are right.

  • Thats fine, will live in reality and you live in Never Never Land.

  • "i don't know if i accept gravity as truth.."

This must be a joke :D

  • @brianneruedy14 Gravity is a fact, Newton's universal law of Gravitation elaborates on that fact. Einstein's theories of general and special relativity explain that law. Scientific theories are held in highest regard in science, because that's where they true explanations lie. A basic understanding of scientific principles would help anyone understand that scientific theories are our best explanations for natural phenomena. Evolution is just one of these many, SOLID, and valid theories.

  • @brianneruedy14 You say there is no evidence... I say you haven't even the foggiest notion of what the evolutionary theory of biology is. And for that, the only solution is to learn it properly. It's not a wild guess, supposition, or conjecture. If it were simply that, it would not be the cornerstone of biology. The fact that it's verified by numerous sources within biology and within a multitude of other scientific branches, only strengthens its explanation for biodiversity.

  • @tehjow

First, it is a hypothesis. After experiment, research and discoveries it becomes a theory. Completely proven, it becomes a law. Studying anthropology I hear the gravity theory comparison all the time. But it is Newton's "LAW of gravity" not theory. There is no "law" of evolution yet. I believe in evolution, this is just a fallacious argument.

  • Responder a este vídeo... Wait a second... 6:20 it says chimps only have 40 traditions whereas humans have thousands... um... couldn't that be because of the fact that there are less than 200,000 chimps whereas there are BILLIONS of humans???

  • A scientific theory can not be proven. Newton or Einsteins theories explain how gravity works not what it does. Yes you would fall off the cliff, but this does not explain anything. A series of equations gives a mathematical reason for why these events would occur. These ideas are abstract which then makes them not able to be taken as absolute truth. Although until evidence proves the theory wrong or someone invents a new theory that has better results, it stands.

  • @brianneruedy14 you waste your life with religion

  • FINALLY THANKS! 100% AGREE WITH YOU!

  • @johntetzel You forgot to put the "Psychotic" before "Religious people"

    there's a difference :)

  • @johntetzel I had an imaginary friend once, he was called Larry. Difference? I was four =P

  • @tinkerandchippy Well, at least you didn't talked to Dinosaurs...

  • @johntetzel lol this is a win! :3

  • @johntetzel Well yeah, but did it ever occur to anyone that perhaps religious texts were adapted from stories and most of what happens is metaphorical? Who knows, maybe Adam and Eve were near human apes...

Why would humans all of a sudden be shameful of their bodies? Doesn't make sense. I think it was some guy with a small pecker who decided hat everyone had to wear clothes in public.

  • @Cstrife234 You could be absolutely right. The problem is strict constructionist religious fundamentalists who think the Earth is 6,000 years old. This is an insult to the fact that we crazy scientists have doubled the human life span in less than a century whereas praying has been seen in studies to actually make people MORE ill. That rant is so old and angry... I had no idea it was voted up. I would have had more tact in retrospect, but I just hate to see them revise history for their agenda.

  • @johntetzel fucking right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @johntetzel I like how all these darwin groupies mindlessly spout their talking points like odedient non-thinking sheeple. Have ALL these darwin sheep people done ALL these experiments themselves? NO! Have they empircally SEEN a austriopithicus evolve to homosapiens??? NO! All they can do is to point to some 'authority' like a high priest of 'science' like Asimov,Gould,Sagan, etc. A Free Thinker like myself knows this video is crap!

  • @kdc43 The mounds of evidence are clear to anyone that has 2 hours and access to Wikipedia or a copy of The Ancestor's Tale. Non-thinking sheep seem to appreciate strong evidence over dribble spread by illiterate people, translated, translated, cherry picked, re-translated, etc etc etc... The truth is, the average 7 year old has a far greater understanding of our world than anyone who was around during (or after, in this case) Jesus's lifetime.

  • @kdc43 Perhaps... I agree with you that most atheists are zelots of the Church of non-belif but where i disagree with you is with your free-thinking doxa... How can you tell me that you're not obeying by disobeying orders? Have you studied sociology?

  • @johntetzel What about religious people that like the video? Should they suffer for a similair bigotry?

  • @johntetzel I'm kinda disturbed by the number thumbs up ... Because john you have a f****** well trained/evolved/developed brain. And they dont ... and its not rly easy to shake off something you believe your life is literally based on. And for the record religion used to be pretty damm beautiful until some smartass (with a well developed brain like yours) came along and realized that it was the perfect concept to have power over ppl. So use your brain for the good instead of declaring cvil wars

  • @johntetzel you are annoying your just a arrogant fuck. but i am not going to change your opinion

  • @johntetzel CUT THE RELIGOUS TALK WILL YOU HOW IS IT EVEN RELATED HERE.

  • @johntetzel LMAO thats exactly what i was thinking man!! haha...

  • @johntetzel A-FUCKING-MEN!

  • @johntetzel the intelectuals would sooo win.

  • @johntetzel don't forget burning "witches" and the world being flat...... Idiot zealots!!!!

  • why does this video only have two stars?

  • Because those ignorant religious people do it to keep others from viewing it.

  • i'm religious and i'm watching it.. and not ignorant..

  • @MrPerseus2009 What does it have to do with religion! I'm a religious person and don't mind seeing how smart animals like chimpanzees are! Its infact quite fascinating for me!

  • @MrPerseus2009 i'm religious (pagan) and i belive in evolution i also think this documentary is very interesting haha :)

  • @cody1902guy Same here. I hate those idiots who are only emabarrasing all the religious people. All of us are not that dumb!

  • Chimps have had 5 million years to develop traditions and skill sets.

  • The traditions thing is somehow ridiculous, we have lots of customs and traditions because we had the time to develop them.

  • they gave them an X for planning ahead long term without experimenting long term. I bet that mom could spawn generations of tool weilding babies

  • was thinking the exact same thing. just because this guy says that they cant plan long term doesnt make it so.

  • The light switches in my house are touch button dimmers and I have had many occasions where I have found my front room light on when I left it off... I'v had many thoughts of why this could be!

    Faulty switch? Etc!

Recently I decided to set up my camera before I went to work so I could see what was happening. When I got home that day I was amazed! My front room switch has a chair near it. My pet cat got on the chair and deliberately touched the switch with his paw! He must have seen me doing it.

  • Hah, awesome. :D

Reminds of my dog (when he was younger at any rate.) He used to escape from our garden and we couldn't understand how.

Then my mum watched him one day place his back against an apple tree in the corner and 'walk' up the fence!

  • Why do they say primate society develope slower?

WE ARE PRIMATES. We're also apes, but this programs seems to be playing it as ape vs human.

    Sloppy writing.

  • I concur.

  • Agreed.
