I have loved the stars to fondly to be fearful of the night.
- Galileo
I used to be scared of the dark when I was young. Then for some reason I decided to overcome it. I would go out into the forest with my dog and lie underneath a pine tree while looking up at the constellations. At first I was nervous, but with my trusty companion by my side I eventually overcame this fear. And then I found a peace and serenity that I have only known on a clear dark night.
Can you feel a nostalgic feeling hiting you slowly and accurately in the back of your head?

Can you feel what the author was trying to remind you of AND teaching thru this song?
The class, attention and time spent on this.

@riodec14 i'm sorry, did you just say it's better not to know music theory? it's quite close-minded to say that. i see your point but you should understand music theory opens new horizons not hide them.
p.s. please excuse my (failed) attempt at showing off etiquette. it's because of the music. x]
Someone may be upset that I even mention this, but I believe that this piece was used in a song on the orchestral half of the Yellow Submarine soundtrack. Very cool in my opinion.
I've come to the conclusion that anyone who is an atheist has never heard this piece of music...something like this could've only been inspired by God
Is it even possible for 24 souls to dislike such a masterpiece? J.S. Bach had God in his quill when he placed it on the parchment that now hold this piece of music
I love this. Didn't have a clue about the composer. Just stumbled upon it after a google search for the music to the old Hamlet Cigar adverts. A previous comment about sadness and beauty at the same time, hits the nail on the head....well more like a drawing pin being punched home with a pneumatic drill!!!!! I think if your a fan of music then all roads lead to classical. Be it rock, pop, prog, trance, or metal, if the music you listen to moves you then that is all that matters..if it moves you.
It rarely happens to hear something more beautiful! These beautiful song and video make us travel all around the universe not with the speed of sound but with the speed of light, because it's devine! Just imagine it! Wonderful masterpiece!
On the golden disc that is on board the voyager 1 space craft there is some recordings of Bachs music ,its just approching the edge of the universe and still going on strong.
Wonderful post, Walvis! I read your explanation of why the tuning is lower. Fascinating. I guess today's instruments must have tighter strings :) At any rate, I have tuned my bass to match this performance, because it feels good to play it.
When I hear this something inside of me in the most inner depths of my soul there is a yearning to soar, cry, laugh and to be part of creation as it happens: genuinely and without reserves.
I wish we could broadcast this across the entire universe, to all of those stars, galaxies, and planets. Followed quickly by our boast: Yes. WE did this!

My mind feels blank. I'm- at a loss of words at the moment... wait, Genius, brilliant, extremely passionate in a gentle soothing way. *clap* Truly beautiful.

@ondasuondaable and you are also incorrect with some of the composers being present in the Classical Era. Handel is also a stereotypical example of the baroque era, not classical. Nobody saw him looking into the future making a symphony using the 4-movement-cycle.

The occasional mordent was a trademark of the day...it is beautiful to hear them spaced so elegantly so as not ot be overdone. And the subtle use of the ritard throughout the piece lends a feel of chamber music to it. This is the best version I've heard...thank you for posting it!
Wow, your renditions of every piece I've listened to so far are just absolutely brilliant. This feels and sounds exactly like how Bach would have wanted it to feel and sound. Thanks so much for your work!

I agree, though I'm sure it'll probably be some crappy overused song instead -_-

Nice music! This is one of my favourite classical pieces.
This is also one of J. S. Bach's most famous pieces.
