those moves that are now packaged as "house dance" mostly came from a certain group of dancers fron NY in the 90s.

Chicago house music is older than todays commercialized "house dance", back in the mid 80s people were doing salsa or even popping to house... dance however you want. the music is what guides you.

You can be free and shuffle like all the youtube ravers but if you want to learn how to express yourself while maintaining balance and utilize the most from your body it is best to learn how dance. Stepping is a core style that is danced allot in the house music scene in the U.S *(Chicago) Many make the claim you have and flail around dance floors. Be free without flavor.

Kind of. You can feel the music and dance, but if you don't somehow systematize that, at least for yourself, then it will probably look unintelligible, babble that no can appreciate but you. I don't think house is supposed to like that, like a drug. You're making up your own language, a common language of emotion that is a way to communicate how the music makes you feel in a way that other people can understand. It needs control,too. In this regard, Gene Kelly is more of a houser than this guy.

Put another way, good jazz and tap dancers would be phenomenal house dancers, if they could bring themselves to corrupt their form a little, whereas there would be a steeper learning curve to transition to hip hop or breakdancing. Those chicago footworkin', jittin', and jukin' styles are similar to house in this way.
